[Maya](#) {NAME} -- it's all been leading up to this. Before Election Day gets away from me, I wanted to quickly write you a note to tell you how I'm feeling. When I announced my candidacy on the steps of the Brooklyn Museum in October, I didn't have a political machine or a national network or so much as this email list. What I had was the courage to say our City should be and can be better. Better for the Black and brown essential workers who got us through a pandemic, but still don't have full equality. Better for the families who are being pushed out by rising costs and low wages. And better for a generation of kids who need us to invest in their potential. I had the courage, and this grassroots movement brought the rest. The resources, smiles, gifs, honesty, energy, and hours of work to get us to this point. I am so very grateful to all of you for your support over these months. Your hard work has paid off. Our campaign has earned huge endorsements, consolidated the progressive base, and made it clear that transformational leadership from an unconventional candidate is possible. I don't know what the results will be, but I do know that we have everyone who defends the status quo shaking in their boots. So here it goes. My name is Maya Wiley, daughter of George and Wretha, loving partner and mom of two great kids, civil rights lawyer, lifelong champion for justice, and new superfan of The Strokes -- and I'm asking for your #1 vote today.
