Today I am writing to ask you to consider making a contribution today to help me close out my campaign so I can turn to the fights ahead. Dear Friends- It has been two months since election day. Two months since hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers voted for a more just City; a city we can all afford to live. I knew going into this race that a Black women civil rights lawyer, who has never run for office before, had an uphill battle. It was never about me. It was about this city and the future we all deserve. Public service is also a privilege and democracy means the people lend our leaders the power to serve with an expectation of integrity. And elections are not the end. They hold the possibility of a new beginning. Good leaders manage. Great leaders send an invitation for everyone to become problem-solvers, value the power of people coming together and listen and lead with principles, as well as plans that make everyone’s life better. Now, with the Delta Variant, a new school year, the continued crisis of affordable housing, looming evictions and a desperate need for more mental health services and climate resilience and adaptation, we need to look to our shared future. As a mother, a neighbor, a civil rights lawyer, a New Yorker, I am still all in to be a part of the solution with you. Today I am writing to ask you to [consider making a contribution today to help me close out my campaign so I can turn to the fights ahead.](  We face real challenges and we have real opportunities with new leadership in this city and coming to the State; with more resources coming from the federal government and with powerful ideas and growing coalitions that are seeing just how much we can accomplish when we work together. We can and we must be bold and transformative and with principles grounded in democratic leadership. Policies like quality child care, Just Cause eviction protection and true police oversight continue to be vital for our city’s future.  Real progress is a possibility, but not a promise, unless we keep fighting. Brave advocates, activists and community members like you have been leading the fight for a better future for years, and as long as there are New Yorkers who can’t afford health insurance or a roof over their head, I will be fighting too. A fair, just, affordable, resilient, diverse city must remain our vision. It’s why I ran for Mayor, and it’s what we owe the next generation.
