Hey {NAME}, We?ve reached out a few times over the last few weeks about our food drive in conjunct

[ Hey {NAME}, We’ve reached out a few times over the last few weeks about our food drive in conjunction with the Comptroller’s Office Living Wage Advisory Board: Now that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, we’re re-opening this food drive, so we can ensure that those suffering with food insecurity could have food to share around the table. This year more than ever, we’re seeing an increased need for food during this holiday season. With high unemployment and rising COVID-19 rates, we need to support our community in every way we can. Our office recently updated [our study on food insecurity]( on the Open Nassau Transparency Hub¸ which highlighted some troubling figures, including one by Long Island Cares, which reported a 73.8% increase of food insecurity on Long Island from March to September of this year. In July, the rate of food insecurity in New York State surpassed 12% -- above the national rate, as well as neighboring states. While just a percentage point increase, this represents thousands of New Yorkers who are struggling to make ends meet. In fact, an estimated 210,000 to 295,000 New York households have experienced food insecurity over the past months. That’s why we decided to open our virtual food drive again! {NAME}, please join us, and chip in now to ensure that our community has what they need this holiday season. [DONATE TO LI CARES]( [DONATE TO LI HARVEST]( [DONATE TO INN]( We hosted food drives with these organizations before and we’re doing it again because these folks are truly remarkable. Our drive is working to boost the work of local organizations that support the food insecure, including Island Harvest, Long Island Cares, and the INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network). We need to make sure we’re doing everything in our power to help those in our community, especially during this pandemic, and especially during the holiday season. By donating to one of these charities, you’re helping a community member with food insecurity get food on their holiday table. So can you help us help our community this holiday season and help those going through food insecurity?
