Please don’t tell my clients about this, {NAME}…  I’ve had an extremely challenging

Please don’t tell my clients about this, {NAME}…  I’ve had an extremely challenging time the past week.  First, I was traveling for 4 days for my friend’s wedding.  Then as soon as we got home, our cat started to have blood in her urine.  So less than 6 hours after our flight landed on Sunday, we were on our way to the emergency vet with her. And we were there until almost midnight.  Then we had to take her to her normal vet Monday morning for some additional testing.  Now luckily, we were also going to have some relief starting on Monday…  Since we have a personal assistant to help us around the house on weekdays. Which is a huge help…  Except she picked 9:21 a.m. on Monday to tell us she wasn’t coming over anymore. She found a new job and quit.  Which means instead of having a full day to recover from my trip Sunday and someone to help around the house Monday so I could get caught up on work after being gone for 4 days…  I spent the day at the emergency vet Sunday, have a sick cat to care for, and no more help around the house.  And the clock is ticking louder and louder on the copy I have to deliver to my clients Monday evening…  So what did I do?  That’s easy…  I hit my deadlines. Every single one.  And I didn’t even have to pull an all-nighter or turn in my work late at night.  In fact, I hope my clients have no idea that I was facing all this chaos when they review my copy.  (So please don’t tell them, okay? lol.)  Because as a professional, my job is to get my work in on time.  Period. No exceptions.  Which is why I always leave myself a lot of slack in the timelines for my projects.  Because it means even with the adversity I was facing earlier this week, I was able to meet all of my obligations.  And like I said, I hope my clients can’t tell at all when they look at the quality of my work.  Now on a personal level, I do plan to tell them what happened once things settle down.  First, because I have a good relationship with my clients. And I know that they will want to know that everything is okay. (In case you’re curious, our cat had a bad UTI. But she’s doing much better now after a few days of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.)  Plus I’ll also tell them because there may come a time in the future when I run into a situation so disruptive, I have no choice but to ask for an extension.  And I want them to know about all the times in the past where I still came through for them — even in the face of significant challenges.  Because that way, they know I don’t take asking for an extension lightly.  And it also means they will almost certainly be willing to give me the extra time I need.  So remember, {NAME}…  Make sure you’re always leaving yourself plenty of slack in your project timelines.  Because you never know when life will throw you a curveball…or three.  And as a professional, you want to make sure that you can still meet all your obligations.  Until next week,  -Brian [Unsubscribe]( | [Edit your details]( Freelance Like A Pro PO Box 281 Bloomingdale New Jersey 07403 United States [Powered By Kartra] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
