The Power of a Push [View this email in your browser]( [Defensive Strength for Women: The Power of a Push]( In our polarizing age of extremes, it is easy to lose ourselves in rhetoric and spin. The #MeToo movement began as something nearly every American united around. We were aghast to see how many men used their power differential, however, defined, to impose their will on females. Though the bullying label is insufficient and oversimplified, these acts were a manifestation of simple bullying psychology applied in the most heinous fashion. Bullies seek a sense of power and control by imposing their will on the less powerful. We all agree that women should not have to fear sexually predatory men or any men for that matter. Still, the reality is that regardless of the lengths societies take to make these instances less common, pathological men will still seek to dominate women. Utopia is a delusion. So, what can you do? A good approach is to [Trust the Process]( and step outside of yourself to view your situation with a different set of lenses. Our lack of critically analyzing our goals is a detriment to our own progress. That's right. You have to step back and be objective. Using [The Ultimate Guide to Meeting Your Goals]( is a great place to start. [And, don't forget all the other good stuff...]( [Get 20% Off RKC Kettlebell Certification]( [Dragon Door’s RKC program]( is the gold standard for kettlebell instructor training. [I Wish I Could Do That]( If you wish you could do something, then do it. Too often we know what actions would solve our problems—we see actions and skills that excite our imaginations and reveal a more dynamic existence and we talk ourselves out of them. We come up with excuses that keep us resigned to the patterns of a less fulfilling life. Life is busy and any of life’s inevitable challenges can easily be listed to excuse immediate impulsive desires to skip workouts or indulge that sweet tooth. Your willpower is just fatigued. There isn’t anything you can do, right? If you are honest with yourself you know this isn’t the case. [The Ultimate Band Pressdown]( If we examine a straight bar triceps pressdown it has a few problems. At lockout people tend to have to lift and roll their shoulders position to finish the lift. This shifts tension away from the triceps. As the set goes on this tends to become more of an issue due to fatigue. The fatigue manifests in two ways. Obviously, the triceps are tired but so too are the lower traps. The lower traps play a crucial role in stabilising the shoulder blades. When they get tired they can no longer control the shoulder blades. As a consequence, by the end of a set it is common to see people rounding and shrugging their shoulders—and using a ton of body English to move the weight. All of which does zero for triceps growth, but does train your ego and beat up your elbows. Copyright © 2019 Breaking Muscle, All rights reserved. Thanks for signing up on Breaking Muscle!
