Hidden results count, Google's blue link economy, technical SEO job security, new Meta Ads generative AI tools and more. [View in browser]() | [Share]() May 08, 2024 [Search Engine Land]() Google [started its enforcement of the site reputation abuse policy]() Monday night by issuing manual actions and deranking and/or deindexing portions of websites that abused the policy. This mostly impacted websites renting out subdomains or subfolders within their reputable site for third parties to rank their coupon sites and other third-party content. Some sites, like Forbes, proactively removed the rented portions of their sites prior to May 5, the date Google told us this policy would be enforced. But many did not, leading to penalties for large sites like CNN, Fortune, USA Today, Los Angeles Times and many others. These were manual actions, but Google said the algorithmic version of enforcement is still to come.
