Dear {NAME}, This weekend, thousands of people came out for the Women’s March to send a strong message to the Trump regime that the Resistance stands strong and united and to make clear that WE WILL PERSIST. And as we fight for the dignity, autonomy, health and well-being of women, we stand for all people. The Trump regime is doing everything it can to make good on its promise to wage war on women: slashing contraceptive coverage, trying to destroy Planned Parenthood, even attempting to block women held in immigration jails from getting abortion care. And they’ve also made it crystal clear they want Roe v. Wade gone. That’s why it’s so important, on the 45th anniversary of Roe, that we stand united to make our state abortion law as strong and protective as Roe. Written almost 50 years ago, New York’s abortion law is no longer adequate to protect women. In fact, New York law regulates abortion as a crime — homicide, no less. It doesn’t meet the constitutional standard of Roe. And it’s out of step with modern medical realities. This results in delays and denials of care, in some cases forcing women to seek care out of state. [The women of New York need you to act now – Tell the leaders of the State Legislature to completely decriminalize abortion. Abortion is not a crime – It’s time to take it out of the criminal code](. In his proposed budget this year, Gov. Cuomo has included a bill that would do just that. Now we have to make sure state lawmakers follow the Governor’s lead. TAKE ACTION: [Demand state leaders decriminalize abortion in this year’s state budget](. Thank you for persisting and doing your part to make New York a safe haven.
