To improve policing, listen up [New York Civil Liberties Union](BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=e~amp;4=) [Facebook](BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=g~amp;4=) [Twitter](BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=f~amp;4=) BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=c~amp;4= Dear {NAME}, We experience policing in NYC differently depending on who we are and what community we belong to. Some neighborhoods are patrolled while others are profiled. Many communities feel under siege or misunderstood. That’s why we’re launching [Listening NYC](BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=a~amp;4=), the first-ever campaign to bring New Yorkers of all viewpoints together to talk to each other, listen and drive action for the policing New Yorkers really want. In streets, parks, and community venues across all five boroughs, Listening NYC will stage a travelling set called “The Listening Room.” There you can share stories and views about police interactions and policies, listen to the experiences of others and communicate your top concerns to Mayor de Blasio. Change won’t happen until we come together – but it’s hard to understand someone else’s experience of policing when it’s so different from your own. At our events over the next two months, decks of “Conversation Cards” will prompt your discussions, audio stations will share recorded stories of affected New Yorkers and police, and you will fill out notes to other New Yorkers with your views on policing practices in New York City. [Check out where you can find “The Listening Room” in your neighborhood, learn more about the project and participate in the conversation on Instagram](BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=b~amp;4=). Listening to each other can be a radical act. It’s a key step to achieve better policing and a better NYC. Thanks for listening, [Donna Lieberman] Donna Lieberman Executive Director [New York Civil Liberties Union](BM2NKIwaa?m=8_09t90~amp;k=mybzmyTtUhekppgGv~25Btnfhbs.Vvf~amp;s=d~amp;4=) [Defend liberty, equality & justice. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
