Hi {NAME}, I'm Nika, Max's wife. Hi {NAME}, I'm Nika, Max's wife. You probably haven't seen much of me on the campaign trail, but I figured now is as good a time as any to introduce myself. I was born in San Francisco and grew up in the Bay Area. Both of my parents are immigrants. My father was a refugee from Cambodia where most of his family was killed by communists. His parents had, wisely, sent him to boarding school when tensions rose. He never saw them again. He then met and married my mother -- a native of China's Guangdong Province -- a few years later in San Francisco. Max and I met at Berkeley in 2010. We were in a coed international affairs fraternity, and we had similar majors -- Political Economy and Development Studies. He asked me out on a date. I said yes, and the rest was history. I love my husband very much, and I share his view that our democracy is under threat and that Doug LaMalfa does not belong in Congress. America gave my parents a chance as refugees, and we need to put an end to the divisive politics that's become so prevalent on the right. [You may not see me campaigning with Max very often, but I've been so humbled that he's had your support in this race. His team has an important end-of-week fundraising mark to hit, and I'm hoping you can dig deep and make a donation of $3 before this deadline hits.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Chip in $10 Now]( [Chip in $35 Now]( [Chip in $50 Now]( [Chip in $100 Now]( [Chip in $250 Now]( [Another amount]( I can’t thank you enough, {NAME}, and in the event you see me hanging out at a campaign event, come say hi!
