this story blew me away Did you see [this article about freelancer Courtney Allen](, {NAME}?  It blew me away when it popped up in my newsfeed the other day.  See, Courtney and her agency have made over $2 million dollars…designing PowerPoint presentations…on Upwork of all places.  This story stood out to me for a few reasons.  First, I’m about to hit a million dollars in lifetime freelance revenue myself.  So the fact that Courtney has already brought in double that motivates me to find even more ways to expand my business.  And it’s helpful to read her quotes about what it took for her to grow her freelance business into an agency.  Plus for newer freelancers, it busts the myth that Upwork is only a race to the bottom.  Now are there a lot of low-quality clients on Upwork?  You bet.  There are a lot of low-quality freelancers, too.  But [Courtney’s story]( is proof that great freelancers can match with great clients on Upwork.  And they can leave the garbage clients and freelancers to work with each other in misery.  So if you’re just starting out as a freelancer, don’t ignore Upwork just because of the negative publicity.  I actually got started on Upwork myself. (Although it was called Elance at the time.)  And it’s still one of the best places for new freelancers to launch their careers today.  Until next week,  -Brian  P.S. If you take a closer look at the article, you’ll notice that it does not link to Courtney’s Upwork profile.  So if I were a new freelancer getting started on Upwork, do you know what the first thing I would do is?  I’d track down her actual Upwork profile, so I could see what she’s doing to have so much success and apply it to my own profile.  But don’t worry — I’ll save you the 10 seconds of Googling.  [Here is Courtney’s Upwork profile]( if you want to check it out. (At least it looks legit as far as I can tell.)
