Justifying violence premised on his election lies, Cawthorn urged his far-right base to resort to âbloodshedâ if âour election continues to be rigged and stolen.â Moments before a deadly attack on our Capitol in January, Cawthorn rallied with Insurrectionists. Time and time again, Cawthorn has gone beyond merely spreading election lies. He sympathized with Insurrectionists and encouraged bloodshed in the name of his hateful ideology. If we do not punish Cawthornâs gross conduct, we condone it. Worse, we risk encouraging this rhetoric among the rest of the Republican Party.
