GOP-controlled Senate Judiciary committee will hold a hearing on gun violence on March 26. Huge News

GOP-controlled Senate Judiciary committee will hold a hearing on gun violence on March 26. [This Week in Brady News]( Huge News — the Senate Will Hold a Hearing on Gun Violence on March 26 This. Is. Big. Sen. Lindsey Graham [announced]( that the GOP-controlled Senate Judiciary committee will hold a hearing on gun violence on March 26. The news comes after Sen. Chris Murphy, along with 37 other senators, wrote to Sen. Graham urging him to hold hearings on universal background check laws. [We need to pack the room! In reality, guns substantially increase the chance of death in domestic violence situations — not just for women, but also for their children, extended family members, and first responders. Goessling is at least the second Trump nominee, following Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, to suggest that arming the population is the best method of self defense. If Goessling is confirmed, she’ll be in a powerful position to spread disinformation that will imperil the lives of domestic violence victims. We call on the Senate to reject Goessling’s nomination. [Read our statement.]( --------------------------------------------------------------- We Spoke Out About Gun Violence as a Public Health Crisis Brady and Team ENOUGH attended a rare and vitally important hearing by the House of Representatives on how our country can address gun violence as a public health crisis. We rallied behind Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who called for funding and research to stem the epidemic. Also this week, Team ENOUGH’s Aalayah Eastmond and Brady Federal Policy and Electoral Manager Mark Collins took part in the American Medical Student Association (AMSA)’s federal lobby day on Capitol Hill, where they spoke about the power of student activism and legislative advocacy. Over 250 medical students from all over the country attended.
