HR 8 passes by 240 to 190. Share your support for fortifying background checks on social media! [Brady United Against Gun Violence]( Dear {NAME}, We did it again. The House of Representatives just passed H.R. 8, a bipartisan measure to strengthen and expand the Brady Background Check system. This victory can’t be underestimated — it marks the most progress the movement to end gun violence has had in decades. But there’s something else that makes this moment all the more powerful: it falls on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the legislation that started it all — the Brady Law. With Jim and Sarah Brady at the helm, we led the fight to pass that historic bipartisan legislation. Twenty-five years later, we’re excited to see H.R. 8 pass with bipartisan support. With so much to celebrate — and at the same time, so much at stake — we need to keep up the momentum as the Senate considers expanding background checks. Will you take a moment to show your support for Brady on social media? Change your Facebook profile pic! Use our [Facebook Frame]( to show your support for expanding #BradyBackgroundChecks. It’ll help keep up the momentum and put pressure on the Senate to fortify background checks. Brady has never stopped leading Americans towards a future free from the threat of gun violence. With your help, we’ll continue to lead the gun violence prevention movement and to inspire all Americans to take action, not sides. Yours in this fight, Kris Brown President P.S. Another important vote is taking place tomorrow. H.R. 1112 will address the dangerous “Charleston Loophole” that allows gun sales to proceed even before a background check has been completed. Tell your representative to vote YES by texting “Charleston” to 877-877.
