We need your help to keep guns out of dangerous hands. [TAKE ACTION]( Dear {NAME}, Thanks to your hard work and support for gun violence prevention champions last election, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to consider sensible gun laws for the first time in eight years. The Committee will soon be voting on H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Check Act of 2019. [We need your help to urge Members of Congress to vote YES on H.R. 8.]( Simply put, background checks keep guns from dangerous hands and saves lives. Jim and Sarah Brady walked the halls of Congress and fought to make Brady Background Checks the law of the land 25 years ago. In the 25 years since the Brady Law has been in place, more than three million prohibited gun purchases have been blocked. Brady background checks have prevented domestic abusers, convicted felons, and other dangerous people from buying guns from federally licensed firearms dealers. Private sales such as those that take place at gun shows and the internet are not currently covered by the Brady Law and we need your help to fulfill Jim and Sarah’s mission. H.R. 8 will strengthen background checks and expand the system to cover ALL gun sales. [Please let your Representative know that you support expanded background checks.]( Thank you for all you do to support Brady in making America safer from gun violence.
