Will you call your member of Congress to ask them to support H.R. 8? [CALL NOW]( Dear {NAME}, Thanks to you, we finally have a pro-gun safety Congress. And just a few days after taking office, they introduced H.R. 8, a much-needed bill which will expand Brady background checks to cover all gun sales. If every gun sale had to go through a background check, my father would still be alive today. [You can watch my story here.]( [WATCH MY STORY]( My father was shot and killed by a white supremacist in 1999. His murderer should have been blocked from purchasing a gun, but he found a private seller through the classified ads in his local newspaper who was willing to sell him two pistols without any background check. That’s why I chose to work with Brady in pushing for sensible gun laws. Since it went into effect 25 years ago, more than 3 million gun purchases have been blocked by the Brady background check law. Sadly, 1 in 5 guns are sold without a background check, just like the one used to kill my father. For the first time in a generation, we have a gun violence prevention majority in the House. We can close the loopholes that allow guns to be in dangerous hands. [Will you help us keep up the momentum by calling your member of Congress and demanding they support H.R. 8? Our legislators have told us repeatedly how effective phone calls from their constituents are. You can be the catalyst to make sure they sign on to this important bill.]( With thanks for taking action, Kelley Byrdsong [CALL NOW]( Follow Brady on Social Media: [Follow us on Facebook]( [Follow us on Twitter]( [Follow us on Instagram]( Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence 840 First Street, NE Suite 400 Washington, DC 20002 United States Our work is made possible by supporters like you.
