Many years ago I remember reading an issue of Dan Kennedy NO BS Marketing letter, talking about the late E Joseph Cossman after he joined the choir invisible. The title âlegendâ is thrown around a lot in the marketing world. But Cossman is an actual legend in this business. And, there were many lessons to learn from his way of doing business. The most Valuable (for me, anyways) that Dan Kennedy talked about was Joeâs commitment to doing what worked. Specifically, he would find something that works in his marketing and would use it over and over and over again with (as Dan put it): âzealous adherence, no deviation.â This is in contrast to most entrepreneurs these days. Very few people have the self control to do what Mr. Cossman did: * Find the game you like to play and that works * Stick with it * Keep doing it over and over again. (Regardless of opinions, lack of excitement, guru opinions, mastermind insistence, new technology, etc.) Instead, they enter the goo-roo casino on Flakebook or at that mastermind they like to attend, see the bright, shiny lights and loud noises, and are instantly distracted, change things that work because [insert name of their favorite goo-roo] does it, and then lose whatever momentum they had to begin with that probably would have taken them far. Anyway, what Dan Kennedy talked about stuck with me. And, has acted as a loyal guide when growing my own business. In fact, this idea of finding something that works, then doggedly sticking with it is mandatory if you want to profit from what I teach inside my "Email Players" newsletter. Especially the upcoming April issue. Especially since it's all about figuring out your own marketing game. Cossman had his game that worked for him. But it would not have worked for everyone. The irony: When you figure out what your marketing game is, and see it working, and are successful with it and itâs bringing you a lot more money and enjoyment with your work⦠the "hard" part is not so much the implementation. That part is usually very easy, is fun, and works quickly. You are, after all, playing your game by your rules. No, the hard part is not getting distracted by the brainiacs on Flakebook shilling yet another Internet marketing prole-bait game for doing things, that may or may not even work for the goo-roo shilling it, and certainly wonât work in conjunction with anything I teach. When you have marketing game dialed in everything just meshes and fits. Which brings up another irony about it all: You might even have trouble explaining what game you play and why you do certain things. Thatâs how you know you are doing it right. If you have things up and running your way⦠and itâs successful, and your business is growing, and people (especially those LESS successful than you, who merely parrot others) are still constantly haranguing you about âwhy donât you do things like so-and-so?â your game is strong. Probably you will find you are a lot more satisfied with your business and your life, too. Thatâs been my experience at least. It is also why I advise people without discipline not to buy anything from me. I'd rather they haunt someone else. On the other hand, it's perfect for people who understand the Value of consistency. If that's you, Email Players might be a good investment. Especially the upcoming April issue. It gives no specific answers. You have to figure out your own game. But it can give you ideas, directions, and a beacon to follow. The deadline to subscribe in time to get it is in a couple days.
