It was the highest casualty toll from a single attack on Kyiv over the past month. The latest Russian attack used short-range Iskander ground-launched missiles. Ukrainian air defenses shot down all 10 cruise and ballistic missiles launched by the Kremlinâs forces, but falling debris caused damage and casualties on the ground, wounding 16 people. Russia has kept up a steady barrage on the capital and other parts of the country in recent weeks as Kyiv readies for a counteroffensive to push back Moscowâs troops. Israel Thousands of people are to march in Jerusalem's Pride parade on Thursday, under a right-wing government stacked with openly homophobic members. The march in the conservative city is always [tense and tightly secured]( by police. But this year, Israel's contentious government plan to overhaul the judiciary has torn open long-standing societal divisions between those who want to preserve Israel's liberal values and those who seek to shift it toward more religious conservatism. Sudan The White House announced Thursday that it will levy sanctions against people "[who are perpetuating the violence](" in Sudan as warring sides fail to abide by a ceasefire agreement. The US is imposing visa restrictions on officials from the warring Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces and leaders from the former Omar al-Bashir regime, who are âresponsible for, or complicit in, undermining Sudanâs democratic transition,â according to the State Department, urging the two sides to resume ceasefire talks.
