Moroccan officials took over the rescue efforts of one of them. Dozens of people are feared dead, while others remain missing. The activist group Alarm Phone has criticized rescuers for not moving faster. Nearly 6,000 migrants have [arrived by boat]( to the Canary Islands this year, according to Spain’s Interior Ministry, but that number has declined since last year. This week’s incidents come off the heels of a major migrant boat disaster off Greece last week that left hundreds of people dead. Titan submersible The five crew members aboard the Titan submersible that had embarked on an undersea tourism expedition to visit the remains of the Titanic are [presumed dead]( after what was likely an implosion. The Coast Guard said that pieces of the vessel, which had gone missing earlier in the week, were found on the ocean floor about 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic. There are new reports that a [secret US network of acoustic sensors]( picked up indications of an implosion on Sunday in the area around the time communications were lost with the submersible. But, not being able to confirm the information, they continued the search. US-India Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi [addressed Congress]( on Thursday during his state visit to Washington. In talks with US President Joe Biden, the two leaders discussed a range of initiatives to advance cooperation in technology, energy and military hardware. They did not publicly discuss areas of disagreement, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
