US President Joe Biden is on his long-awaited [trip to Canada]( for talks with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Biden intends to repair bilateral relations that were strained during the former Trump administration. The two leaders are expected to [discuss a plethora of issues](, including the war in Ukraine, North American supply chains, climate change, the opioid crisis, defense cooperation, the deteriorating situation in Haiti, immigration and trade. Canada is usually the first foreign trip a US president makes after taking office, a tradition that Biden broke from. Ethiopia
The Ethiopian government has removed the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) from the countryâs [list of terrorist groups](. It comes more than four months after a peace agreement ended a conflict with the group, which began in late 2020 and left hundreds of thousands of people dead. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appointed senior TPLF official Getachew Reda as head of the interim Tigray regional administration. The deal has also allowed for the [resumption of basic services]( and aid deliveries to the Tigray region, which has faced shortages of food, fuel, cash and medicine. Israel
The coalition of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has [approved legislation]( that would protect him from being deemed unfit to rule due to his corruption trial. Thousands of people have been protesting across the country, blocking traffic and scuffling with police, with critics saying the law encourages corruption. Opposition politicians condemned the new law on Thursday.
