In a [complete turnaround]( in policy, the Biden administration has said that the high office of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known as MBS, should shield him from a lawsuit over his alledged role in the killing of Saudi dissident and Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Itâs a total shift from Bidenâs campaign promises to hold MBS to account. Instead, MBS would have immunity in a US legal case brought by Khashoggi's fiancée Hatice Cengiz for the 2018 murder that took place in Istanbul, Turkey. The crown prince insists he had no prior knowledge of the assassination, but said he [accepted symbolic responsibility]( for it as the nationâs de facto ruler. Sweden
A Swedish prosecutor has said that an investigation found [traces of explosives]( at Nord Stream sites, suggesting the blasts that occurred there in the Baltic Sea in September were done as sabotage. Nord Stream makes up the largest-capacity natural gas pipelines from Russia to Europe, and the blasts rendered it inoperable. The preliminary [investigation will go on]( and the prosecutor has yet to decide on any potential charges. Haiti
Haiti has confirmed more than [700 cholera cases]( and at least 161 related deaths, according to the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO). The head of the group said that half a million people are currently at risk of contracting cholera, with health officials investigating 7,000 suspected cases.
