The coalition he’s expected to bring together would be the most right-wing government yet for the country. His far-right allies want to [overhaul the justice system]( to give politicians more control of judicial appointments, while weakening the Supreme Court’s oversight of the parliamentary process. They’re also calling for an end Palestinian autonomy in parts of the West Bank. Pakistan Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been [shot and wounded]( in an assassination attempt while at a rally in Pakistan. The bullet hit his foot, and police say they’ve detained a suspect. One of his supporters was killed in the shooting in Wazirabad and at least two other people were also injured by the gunfire. The shooting has prompted protests across the country in support of Khan, who’s been on a [nationwide rally tour]( calling for new elections. He was ousted from power in April and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) suggested last month that he be disqualified from holding political office for the next five years. Ethiopia Warring parties in northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region have [agreed to a peace deal]( after two years of heavy fighting. The conflict has killed hundreds of thousands of people, with millions of others displaced and many near famine. Ethiopian government forces and Tigrayan fighters will have to disarm and [basic services will have to be restored]( to the Tigray region, including communications, transportation and banking services. The opposing groups will also have to commit to allowing unfettered humanitarian access to the region. Every weekday, our team has one shared goal: bringing you The World.
