Hundreds of protesters have [breached Iraqâs parliament](, which is located within the heavily fortified Green Zone in the capital Baghdad. Police used teargas, but were unable to hold back the crowds. Most of the demonstrators are supporters of powerful Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, whose political bloc emerged as the [biggest parliamentary faction]( in last Octoberâs election, though it still failed to secure a majority. Meanwhile, the establishment of a new government for Iraq remains in a deadlock. And protesters have said theyâre against corruption and the current political process. Haiti
Violence is surging again in Haiti, with gangs waging intense gun battles on Wednesday in the capital Port-au-Prince. A downtown municipal market had to shut down, as did main avenues in the area. Hundreds of people have died during a flare up of gang violence that started three weeks ago, mainly between the [G9 and G-Pèp gangs](. Meanwhile, a string of recent arms-trafficking scandals have sparked anger among Haitians, including a [ste]([ady flow of US guns]( fueling the violence. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is in Europe. He is set to [meet with French President Emmanuel Macron]( for a working dinner in Paris on Thursday. He also met with officials in Greece. Itâs his first trip to the continent since the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi â a matter that critics have pointed to, arguing why Western officials should not meet with MBS â though the leaders have engaged with him in various settings outside of Europe. The crown prince's trip comes just weeks after US President Joe Biden met with him during his trip to Saudi Arabia.
