Ukrainian officials also reported 17 wounded, including pregnant women, doctors, and children buried in the rubble. And in Zhytomyr, a small city west of Kyiv, [bombs fell on two hospitals](, one of them a childrenâs hospital, with no injuries. Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskiy called these attacks an "atrocity," and Ukrainian and Western officials have branded them a ["heinous"]( war crime. The World Health Organization confirmed 18 attacks on medical facilities since the Russian invasion began two weeks ago. Meanwhile, authorities have announced new ceasefires to allow thousands of civilians to escape bombarded towns. At least [2 million]( people have fled Ukraine since Russia invaded the country two weeks ago. Hong Kong The city of 7.4 million faces a [spiraling omicron outbreak]( that has swamped hospitals and morgues and reduced hours or shut restaurants and shops. More than 500,000 infections and over 2,600 deaths have been recorded since the fifth wave began at the end of December â with many victims among the [unvaccinated elderly](. Leader Carrie Lam says the government is focused on reducing deaths and mitigating rapid viral spread, but that there's [âno specific time frameâ](for citywide testing â a reversal from an earlier announcement. Coupled with rumors of a lockdown, store shelves were left bare as residents stockpiled daily necessities.
