Gunman tried to shoot him at a church on Saturday in the northern city of Gonaïves. Police have blamed the incident on [armed groups]( and said that at least one person had died, while two others were injured. The incident comes months after Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was killed in July. United Nations The five permanent members of the UN Security Council have agreed to ensure that the world never sees a nuclear war. The US, UK, Russia, China and France said they want to avoid war between their states and work with all nations to create an [atmosphere of security](. Tensions have been high in recent months between Russia and the West over Ukraine. Venezuela A new report shows that Venezuela’s oil exports doubled in December from the previous year, despite US sanctions against the country. Shipments averaged 619,000 barrels a day last month, with output hitting the crucial mark of [1 million barrels]( on a single day. Venezuela was able to increase exports for a third straight month because of [support from its ally Iran](, which boosted the supply of a key ingredient aiding production.
