The first was an error in Manage Rules & Alerts, triggered by the November security update. When users create or edit a rule in Outlook, they receive the following error message and are unable to edit the rule. "The operation failed because of a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, reinstall." The bug was fixed in the recently released Click to Run version 1812 (and higher) as well as in the semi-annual channels Version 1808 and 1803. Users with MSI versions installed will need to install the January 2019 update. For more information, see [Outlook Error: "The operation failed..." when selecting Manage Rules & Alerts]( [] Search Bug: From field is missing I've seen a lot of complaints like this one the last few days: "If I search the "Current Mailbox" using Outlook 2016. The results do not show anything in the "From" field and all the emails are "unread" even if I have read them." This is a bug (obviously). It was introduced by a recent update to the Office 365 servers and Microsoft is in the process of fixing this. It should be fixed very soon and until then, the workaround is to either use Outlook on the web for searches or add the DisableServerAssistedSearch value to the registry. If you choose to use the registry key, don’t forget to remove it within the nest few days. Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Office > 16.0 > Outlook > Search REG_DWORD: DisableServerAssistedSearch Value: 1 Updates for this bug are published in the Office 365 Admin panel, under service advisories. [EX171760 - Sender name not appearing]( [] Maximum attachment size in Outlook for Mac In the latest builds of Outlook for Mac, attachments are limited to 25 MB for POP and IMAP accounts, as well for Gmail accounts using the Microsoft Cloud. Outlook.com’s limit is 30MB. This change is intentional. If you need to send larger messages, use web mail or upload to the file to OneDrive and share link to the file. [] Outlook Categories & Shared Folders When you share a calendar or contact folder with other users, the category names will always be visible to the people you share with, but whether they see the category colors depends on the version of Exchange you’re using. Using current versions of Outlook and Office 365 or Exchange server, the category colors should be visible on shared Calendars and Contact folders with Reviewer or Editor permissions.
