Exchange Messaging Outlook A weekly newsletter about Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook September 28 2017 Volume 22 Issue 28 Advertisement Duplicate Email Remover for Outlook Optimize Outlook productivity with precision and discipline. Multiple copies of the same email create confusion and distraction. Duplicate Email Remover from MAPILab simplifies the process of identifying and removing duplicate email messages and posts so you can stay on time and on task. [Duplicate Email Remover]( [] iCloud Calendar doesn’t sync with Outlook I’ve had quite a few complaints over the last few weeks that new appointments created in Outlook sync up to the phone, but new appointments created on the phone won’t sync down. For once, it’s not a bug in Outlook or iOS; it’s on the user's end, in the form of a misconfigured Calendar: the appointments are being created on the wrong calendar. They aren't syncing over to icloud.com which means they won’t sync down to Outlook. In the phone’s settings, open Calendar settings and verify which calendar is set as default. It should be the iCloud calendar. Next, open the account settings for each account and turn off any calendars you don’t need. Now create a new appointment and verify it is on the iCloud calendar. It should sync to Outlook within a few seconds. Although the recent complaints were about iCloud, this problem can affect any phone (or tablet) and any account that syncs the calendar with the phone. The first step should always be to verify which calendar you are adding the appointment to, then change the default calendar if needed and stop syncing any calendars you aren't using. [] Fixed: iOS can’t send mail The release of iOS 11 came with a bug for some Exchange accounts, including Outlook.com: some users are unable to send email. Email hosted on Outlook.com or Office 365, as well as Exchange 2016 on Windows Server 2016 is affected. When affected users tried to send an email, they may receive this error message: "Cannot Send Mail. The message was rejected by the server." The solution: update to iOS 11.0.1. [] Advanced Find is back Well, that didn’t take long… not long after the September 15 update that removed Advanced Find from Outlook 2016 on the Current channel, Microsoft made the decision to restore it in an update released September 18. More fields and Recent Searches are back as well. If it is still missing from your Outlook, check for updates. [] Office 2019 For those who missed the announcement Microsoft made at the Ignite conference, Office 2019 will be released next fall. This announcement specifically references the retail (perpetual) version as Office 365 subscribers receive new features in the monthly updates. Office servers, which include Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for business, will be available for on-premise licenses.
