[header] AUGUST 14, 2020 [leading] Thursday marked the 100th trading day since the stock market’s pandemic panic low on March 23 — and by one measure the subsequent rebound is the strongest in nearly 90 years. The S&P 500 ended slightly lower Thursday, leaving it 50.1% above its March 23 close of 2,237.40. That notched the U.S. stock-market benchmark’s biggest 100-trading-day rise since the period ending Aug. 18, 1933, according to Dow Jones Market Data. It’s also not far off revisiting its all-time closing high of 3,386.15 set on Feb. 19 — a level it briefly traded above in Wednesday’s session and again on Thursday before pulling back in late trade. Regardless, both the current rally and the 1933 rebound follow historically steep selloffs that accompanied global cataclysms. The present rebound comes in the midst of global public health crisis caused by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, which has infected more than 20 million people worldwide and resulted in more than 750,000 deaths, including more than 160,000 U.S. fatalities, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The S&P 500 logged a record close of 3,386.15 on Feb. 19, then subsequently plunged by 33.9% to its March 23 close at 2,237.40, tumbling as lockdowns in response to the pandemic put the U.S. and much of the global economy on ice. During that stretch, the S&P 500’s drop from a record into a bear market — defined as a fall of 20% from a recent peak — was the fastest in history. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which had peaked on Feb. 12, achieved the same historic feat on its way to a bear market. It also ended more than 50% above its March 23 low of 18,591.93, joining the S&P 500 in putting the strongest 100-trading-day gain since August 1933. Enjoy the lawless destruction to come. Your warped decisions do nothing but put people in danger. This is not about social causes. You’ve brought this on yourselves with your decisions entirely void of common sense. The Oregon State Police announced on Thursday that it was pulling out its roughly 100 state troopers from protecting the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse in downtown Portland after the city’s district attorney announced that he is not pursuing charges against the rioters who have been arrested. The Oregon State Police had committed to helping local law enforcement officials deal with the violent riots for a period of two weeks, which has now expired. “We’re in a county that’s not going to prosecute this criminal behavior,” said spokesman Capt. Timothy R. Fox. Fox also said: “The Oregon State Police is continually reassessing our resources and the needs of our partner agencies and at this time we are inclined to move those resources back to counties where prosecution of criminal conduct is still a priority.” The Oregon State Police shared a photograph on Thursday that showed a rock that had been thrown at one of their troopers, writing, “OSP Trooper sustained a concussion & whiplash after being struck in the head during the protests in Portland.” [More Here]( [trumpspacer] Trump’s Attorney General speaks in the utmost common sense terms. AG Barr’s words on the situation hit the mark. On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Attorney General William Barr praised outgoing Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best and stated that “unless we support the police, we’re not going to have a police force. These communities are not going to have the safety.” He further stated that “a lot of the liberals will buy themselves out of that. They’ll go to resort towns and so forth, and they’ll escape the consequences of it. But the people in the inner cities won’t. … That’s not caring about black lives.” Barr said, “Well, lives are being lost in violent crime and the demonization of the police. Carmen Best is an example of the highly competent and professional and dedicated police professionals we have in this country. We’re blessed with that throughout the country. They’re excellent, and she is a great example of it, and we should be supporting them. And being a police officer is one of the — it is the hardest job in the United States. We’re asking people to go into very dangerous situations, to have jobs that are terribly wearing on them as individuals and on their families, to go into potentially deadly situations not knowing what will happen, and we have to continue to attract the best people into these jobs, and unless we support the police, we’re not going to have a police force. These communities are not going to have the safety. Now, a lot of the liberals will buy themselves out of that. They’ll go to resort towns and so forth, and they’ll escape the consequences of it. But the people in the inner cities won’t. Their lives will be destroyed. Their opportunity will be — they won’t have the opportunity they otherwise would have. Their schools will be overrun by gangs. That’s not caring about black lives.” [More Here]( [Awesome](mailto:contact@salliratrader.com?subject=Awesome&body=Send%20me more 🙂) [Not so good](mailto:contact@salliratrader.com?subject=Not so good&body=You can do better 🙂) [crazy] GOOD Doggo!!! A chihuahua in North Carolina became an unlikely hero earlier this month when she saved her owner’s life while he was having a stroke. Rudy Armstrong had begun his day as usual on his houseboat in Oriental, but the 86-year-old Navy veteran later realized something was wrong. "I sat down in my chair, drank my coffee, and the next thing I know it was after lunch." "And I couldn’t even get my hand to move and my foot wouldn’t move." Realizing he was having a stroke and not being able to reach his phone to call for help, Armstrong turned to his pet chihuahua, Boo-Boo. "I didn’t want to be there for a couple of days before somebody would come by," he shared, "So I said, 'Ok Boo-Boo, go get me some help.'" Boo-Boo did just that, leading the Dockmaster to Armstrong. The Dockmaster called the paramedics and Armstrong was taken to the CarolinaEast Medical Center. "We thank him for his service to our country and for allowing us the privilege of caring for him and sharing his story of Boo-Boo, the miracle pup," the hospital wrote in a Facebook post. Five days after Boo-Boo saved Armstrong’s life, the pair were finally reunited. “I’ve got tears running out of my eyes," Armstrong said of the reunion. "Missed her so much, man.” [More Here]( How was todays newsletter?
