{NAME}, The past four years have been gratifying for my family and me. I am very thankful for supporters like you, and I treasure the time that I served my state and my country. But there is unfinished work to do. And I have never been one to stay on the sidelines. I’m excited to share with you two new projects that I am working on that I believe will make a difference as we continue to navigate these difficult times and move America forward. First, my campaign has now converted to a political action committee. This will allow me to raise money and better support candidates and causes I believe in. My Right Side of History PAC will be focused first and foremost on supporting Senate and House candidates in 2022 to maintain control of Congress and to promote the agenda that elected President Biden. We’ll also be looking at key state races. Beyond specific candidates, I will continue to support causes that have been important to me throughout my career, including voting rights, racial justice, income equality, and access to affordable healthcare. While Right Side of History PAC will be national in scope, I also want to focus on Alabama and the South. I have said before - the South is where so many of our country’s current divisions began - but as the South changes, it is here where the healing can begin. The South has instead lagged behind the rest of the country in almost every positive metric. Recent census data shows that the population of the South is becoming more diverse, but because of a lack of investment, many more progressive voters simply do not vote and make their voices heard. One of my goals is to change that. So together with Columbia, SC Mayor Steve Benjamin, we have formed a 501c4 organization, EveryVoice, to promote change in the South. EveryVoice will be a data-driven organization with long-term objectives for change and short-term goals for 2022. We believe that EveryVoice can unlock the promise of the South with targeted investments across nine states in capacity and messaging and by collaborating with like-minded organizations. I will update you soon with more information about EveryVoice. Robert F. Kennedy once said: "All of us might wish at times that we lived in a more tranquil world, but we don’t. And if our times are difficult and perplexing, so are they challenging and filled with opportunity." That is how I see our time and the vision for these new ventures. My ambition is bold but exciting and promising. I hope you will continue to join me as we meet the challenges and create opportunities for a stronger and more just America. [If you would like to help Every Voice and Right Side of History, you can do so here.]( I will be in touch soon. I always appreciate your feedback, so if you have any thoughts or suggestions, just reply to this email. I’ll try to get to as many as I can. – Doug P.S.
