[Pamela Pugh for Congress]( {NAME}, this is Team Pamela Pugh bumping up Pam's last call to action. On the campaign trail, she has been outspoken over the last few weeks about supporting students across the country who are protesting the war in Gaza. Pam won’t stay silent during attacks on our democracy. She will always speak truth to power, and hold our government accountable for violating civil rights and human rights. That’s why we need Pam in Congress.[If you can help Dr. Pamela Pugh win her campaign to hold Michigan’s 8th District for Democrats – an open, toss-up seat – against opponents who have not called for a ceasefire and are not speaking out on behalf of these brave students, please pitch in a grassroots donation right now](. [DONATE]( Pam’s call to action to stand in solidarity with the student protestors is copied below. If you can’t donate, we hope you’ll sign on to stand with the brave students who are leading this movement. In solidarity, – Team Pamela Pugh for Congress ~~~~~~~~~ Pam's original message ~~~~~~~~~ {NAME}, let me unequivocally state: [I stand in solidarity with these brave students engaging in non-violent protests. The war in Gaza is wrong and the violent response against student protests is also wrong. Sign on here if you agree →]( Dr. Pamela Pugh is the only pro-ceasefire candidate in this race. [Sign on to stand with Dr. Pugh in solidarity with student protestors →]( Let me be clear, I disavow antisemitism, islamophobia, racism, and violent forms of protest. Now, here’s where I stand on the campus protests: From Ann Arbor (University of Michigan) to East Lansing (Michigan State University) to Detroit (Wayne State University), and from Los Angeles to New York City, the campus protest movement against Israel’s attacks on Gaza continues to make headline news, and for good reason: Of course, there’s the Israel-Hamas conflict half a world away that we cannot ignore: 35,000 civilians killed, 13,000 children dead, 80% of schools in Gaza damaged or destroyed, and millions on the brink of famine – it truly breaks my heart and I have been speaking out and demanding a humanitarian ceasefire for the last six months. Then, there’s also the mass arrest and intimidation of those exercising their First Amendment rights to speak out against this injustice, and institutions of higher education authorizing the use of force against their own students. [Let me unequivocally state: I stand in solidarity with these brave students engaging in non-violent protests. The war in Gaza is wrong and the violent response against student protests is also wrong. Sign on here if you agree →]( [sign on]( Thank you for standing with me and these brave students, – Dr. Pamela Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
