It’s been a busy few weeks on the campaign trail. [Pamela Pugh for Congress]( {NAME}, It’s been a busy few weeks on the campaign trail. I wanted to update you on a recent campaign event we hosted with some folks you may recognize… Last week I joined Dr. Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff at a locally family-owned BBQ restaurant, {NAME}s Smokehouse BBQ, that had just reopened after a fire. It was thrilling to convene an education expert like the First Lady, the Second Gentleman, and other local leaders in the Saginaw community, and we engaged in meaningful discussions about the essential components our children require to thrive in their development and school experiences. The event was held last week as part of a tour by the First Lady on a day that marked the 70th Anniversary of the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education, a pivotal moment in our nation's history where justices unanimously ruled against racial segregation in public schools. However, even after seven decades, the fight for equitable education continues. [{NAME}, if you send me to Congress, I will use my experience as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education and a lifelong advocate for education and our children to fight on your behalf for more equitable educational outcomes for everyone, particularly those who live in Michigan’s 8th District where we have some of the worst disparities in the country. Donate here →]( [DONATE $20.24]( I am deeply rooted in a family legacy of educators, where the value of education has been ingrained in me from a young age. My grandfather founded a local school in rural Mississippi, my father was a dedicated teacher, and my mother worked as a paraprofessional. I stand on their shoulders as an advocate -- they have collectively shaped my understanding that education is not just a priority but a cornerstone of individual growth and achievement. Ever since I was a child, it has been clear to me that education holds the key to unlocking one's fullest potential. As we reflect on the progress made and the challenges that persist since Brown v. Board, it's evident that our work is far from over. Recent studies have shown that segregation and inequality still plague our school systems, with stark differences in resources and opportunities for students based on their economic and racial backgrounds. Despite the obstacles, there have been significant victories in advocating for better policies and funding in education. From repealing outdated accountability systems to increasing support for teachers and students, we've made strides towards a more just system. Yet, there's more to be done. But to truly address these issues at the federal level, I need your support to send an advocate like me to Congress. [By contributing $20.24, you can help us be able to secure the campaign resources so I can win this election and go to Washington D.C. to advocate for students across the country. Together, we can ensure that every child has access to a quality education, regardless of their background if you donate to my campaign and help me win this toss-up seat in Congress.]( [DONATE]( you for your unwavering support, – Dr. Pamela Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
