August 17, 2017 Issue #16 [View this email in your browser]( [In the Glow, Issue #13 cover image featuring a green smoothie.]( Hello from Angela If your summer is anything like ours, it’s flying by! I honestly can’t believe we’re well into mid-August already. We’ve been busy working on some fun OSG projects, and also planning upcoming travel and a few special parties. This fall is going to be a busy one! Adriana turns 3 and Arlo turns 1 (!) in September. (We may or may not have made an impulse purchase of tickets to The Wiggles concert for their birthday surprise...no word yet on whether that was a good idea! lol.) Adriana’s gift request is pretty straightforward: BIRTHDAY CAKE. This girl knows how to prioritize, I tell you. On Monday, I had a fun opportunity with the Toronto Star. I shared my favourite picnic recipes and “essentials”, and did a photoshoot at our go-to picnic spot along the lake in Oakville. It was an absolutely picture-perfect afternoon; we could’ve hung out there all day long! Below, you’ll find a collage of the behind-the-scenes pics I shared on Insta Stories. The feature should appear in the Toronto Star sometime in the next week, so if you subscribe to the paper keep your eyes peeled for it. I’m not sure if the photos of Arlo eating the bamboo plates will make the cut, though. ;) I’m trying something new in this issue of In The Glow to change things up a little. Below the featured recipes you’ll find my “Product of the month” and “Tip of the month” sections. I think these additions will be a fun way to share the things I’m loving in my life, as well as the best cooking tips and tricks that I’ve picked up over the years! [Photo shoot; behind-the-scenes photo collage.]( News + Updates [VegNews 2017 Veggie Awards - we're nominated!]( 1) I found out yesterday that Oh She Glows is nominated for favourite blog and favourite app in the VegNews 2017 Veggie Awards. [My favourite skin care products collage.]( This week's featured recipes [Zucchini Bread Muffin Tops] Zucchini Bread Muffin Tops (The Oh She Glows Recipe App: [iOS]( [Rad Rainbow Raw Pad Thai]( [Rad Rainbow Raw Pad Thai]( [Superfood Porridge]( [Superfood Porridge]( [Spiraled Zucchini Summer Salad] Spiraled Zucchini Summer Salad ([Oh She Glows Every Day]( p. 103) [Basil Scalloped Tomatoes and Croutons]( [Basil Scalloped Tomatoes and Croutons]( [Thick & Chunky Tomato Sauce]( [Thick & Chunky Tomato Sauce]( [Avocado Strawberry Caprese]( [Avocado Strawberry Caprese]( [Luxurious Tomato-Basil Pasta] Luxurious Tomato-Basil Pasta ([The Oh She Glows Cookbook]( p. 181) Tip of the month [Cooking Tip of the Month image featuring Fastest Sprouted Steel-Cut Oatmeal.] Super-fast steel-cut oatmeal, anyone?! Steel-cut oats normally take up to 30 minutes to simmer, but you can drastically reduce that cook time by soaking (or “sprouting”) them in a bowl of water overnight. This softens and expands the grains so that, in the morning, all you have to do is drain and rinse the oats, then heat them for about 5 minutes or so on the stovetop...and breakfast is served! It’s such a great time-saver. If you want to try putting this tip into action, be sure to check out my Fastest Sprouted Steel-Cut Oatmeal recipe in Oh She Glows Every Day (p. 37). This lovely “banana bread”-flavoured bowl of oats is pure heaven! Product of the month [Product of the Month: nutpods creamer]( I’m introducing this new section to the newsletter simply because I want to share the products that I trust and enjoy with you; nothing you read here is sponsored, unless otherwise stated. It’s no secret that since becoming a mother I’ve come to consider coffee a food group unto itself, and lately I’ve been experimenting a lot with vegan creamers. After much deliberation, I have to say that Nutpods brand is my fave so far! Rich, creamy, and free of dairy, sweeteners, GMOs, soy, carageenan, and artifical flavours and colours, this creamer is everything a coffee-loving gal could ask for! You can shop it on Amazon [here](. "I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food." W.C. Fields [Hungry for more?
