[MouseSavers.com - Great deals on all things Disney!](
MouseSavers Newsletter – August 2017
As the summer comes to an end you can be sure of a few things: kids head back to school, schedules go back to normal and Walt Disney World is no longer quite so busy (at least until Halloween season starts!). So, this is one of the least expensive times of year to go. It’s also one of the hottest and most humid times of year in Orlando, and the peak of hurricane season, but that might be offset by the savings you get!
There are some great deals at many of our [MouseSavers Preferred Hotels](. Be sure to check out the [two hotel offers](#caribe) in this month’s issue, but take a look at the hotel offers on our [website]( too! Put a stay at one of those hotels together with discounted tickets from [Undercover Tourist](#undercover), and you have created your own very reasonably priced “vacation package.”
There are lots of new attractions and experiences coming to Walt Disney World, and new attractions always mean longer lines. So if you haven’t used FastPass+ yet, you can get expert tips this month from [Sue Pisaturo of Small World Vacations](#suesays).
Disneyland (California) is also adding some new attractions as well as expanding their Halloween decorations to Cars Land – so check out the [latest Disneyland news](#dlnews)Â too!

Book by August 25, 2017 and get SUPER low rates for 1 or 2 bedroom suites when you stay most dates August 20 through December 20, 2017!* Plus, get FREE parking for the length of your stay!
Caribe Royale Orlando, one of the [MouseSavers Preferred Hotels]( is a beautifully landscaped all-suite hotel near Walt Disney World that offers all the amenities you would expect at a deluxe vacation destination, including a fabulous waterfall pool and top-notch restaurants.
Caribe Royale Orlando is a big favorite with MouseSavers.com readers due to the high quality of accommodations, excellent service and reasonable rates. [To find out more about Caribe Royale click here.](
Caribe Royale’s 1-bedroom Queen/Queen Suites sleep up to 6 people (maximum of 4 adults, age 13 and up). The King Suites sleep up to 4 people (maximum of 2 adults, age 13 and up). The bathroom (located between the living room and bedroom) has a sink/vanity area separate from the toilet and bath/shower combo. Each suite also includes a mini-fridge and microwave. Every super-deluxe 2-Bedroom Villa at Caribe Royale measures 1260 square feet and includes a master bedroom with a king bed, a second bedroom with two queen beds and a queen-size sofa bed in the living room. Each Villa includes a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, a screened-in balcony or patio, three televisions, CD/cassette stereo and video cassette player. Both 1- and 2-bedrooms have an in-room safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
At Caribe Royale you can enjoy three full-service restaurants: The Tropicale is a moderately priced restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a Caribbean flair and a varied menu. The Venetian Chop House (formerly The Venetian Room) is an epicureanâs delight featuring award winning contemporary cuisine including steaks, chops and fresh seafood. The all new indoor-outdoor Calypso’s Poolside Bar & Grille, is available daily for tropical drinks and “Floribbean” appetizers and light meals. In addition, for grab and go fare, there’s Cafe 24, a 24-hour deli/pizzeria, that also offers rotisserie chicken, salads, breakfast pastries and a la carte dishes, and Java’s Coffee Café, located in Tower II, which serves coffee drinks, hand-dipped ice cream and other snacks.
Caribe Royale Orlando is a truly beautiful resort-style hotel, and extremely reasonably priced. We have stayed at this hotel many times and thoroughly enjoyed it. We would consider it similar in quality to the Disney Vacation Club resorts, and better in one major respect â the one-bedroom suites sleep up to 6 people, as opposed to Disneyâs one-bedrooms, which sleep 4.

[Small World Vacations Logo]( Says: Save Time with These FastPass+ Tips, Tricks and Secrets
By Sue Pisaturo, Owner of [Small World Vacations](
No one likes to wait in line, especially when youâre on vacation in Walt Disney World.
You can skip the stand by lines and reduce your wait time on many rides and attractions by reserving FastPass+ selections through your [My Disney Experience]( (MDE) Account. Your choices will be encoded onto your MagicBand. FastPass+ selections are included in the cost of your theme park admission.
Setting up your FastPasses in advance is very easy! If you are staying on-site at a Walt Disney World Resort you can begin choosing FastPasses for rides, character meets and entertainment at 7am EST 60 days prior to arrival. Guests staying at an off-site, non-Disney Resort can make their FastPasses 30 days in advance.
FastPasses for the most popular rides, attractions and entertainment can run out 60 days in advance. Check back online in your [My Disney Experience]( (MDE) Account frequently to see if more become available. Be sure to have the most current version of the MDE app on your phone. On the days you visit the parks, you can check the mobile APP for additional FastPasses. Restrictions apply.
Currently, the most popular FastPass Attractions are: Magic Kingdom – Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Meet Mickey and Peter Panâs Flight. Epcot â Frozen Ever After, Test Track and Soarinâ. Hollywood Studios â Toy Story Midway Mania, Tower of Terror and Rock ân Roller Coaster. Animal Kingdom â Avatar Flight of Passage, Naâvi River Journey, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safari and Rivers of Light.
FastPasses are usually easy to get for: Journey Into Imagination, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Spaceship Earth, Mission Space (GREEN), Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo: The Musical, It’s Tough to Be a Bug, Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor, Barnstormer, Mad Tea Party, It’s a Small World and Mickey’s PhilharMagic.
What You Should Know About FastPass+
- Before you can make advanced FastPass+ selections, you must [create a My Disney Experience (MDE) Account](. For technical issues with your My Disney Experience account, call 407-939-7765.
- Your Walt Disney World Resort reservation number must be linked to your [MDE]( account in order to book your FastPasses 60 days in advance.
- To set up your FastPass+ selections, your [MDE]( account must have valid park tickets associated with it. You can do this by linking a Walt Disney World Vacation package reservation number or a separate ticket number to your [MDE]( account for each guest age three and older.
- At 7 am EST exactly 60 days prior to arrival, Disney Resort Hotel Guests can start making up to three FastPass+ selections in one theme park on their [MDE]( account.
- You can initially choose 1 to 3 different FastPasses per day, all in the same theme park.
- Epcot and Hollywood Studios have a tiered FastPass+ system where you can choose 1 FastPass from Group 1 attractions and up to 2 more Group 2 attractions. [Click here for a complete list of FastPass+ selections in each park](.
- You can make FastPass+ selections for the number of days included on the tickets you have purchased.
- Once you make your FastPass+ selections, a handy theme park map will be created in your [MDE]( account showing (in chronological order) where your FastPass+ choices are located.
- Itâs a good idea to take a screenshot of your FastPass+ selections on your phone. If the system goes down, or your MagicBand doesnât work, Disney Cast Members might still be able to honor them.
- You can change or cancel your FastPass+ selections in your [MDE]( account and on the [Disney MDE App](. If you donât have a mobile device, you can change or add FastPasses at special kiosks located in the theme parks. Be sure to have everyoneâs MagicBand or ticket with you. Cast Members are on hand to help you with the process. Disney Resort Hotel guests can also get assistance from their Lobby Concierge.
- Note that theme park kiosks allow FastPass+ selections only for the park where the kiosk is located, but you can view and cancel any of your FastPass+ selections, regardless of location.
- Staying in the same park? After you have used your initial FastPass+ selections, you can make another FastPass+ selection via the My Disney Experience mobile app or park kiosks. Once youâve used your fourth FastPass, you will be able to select another, and so on.
- Want to park hop? If your theme park ticket includes the [Park Hopper Option]( and you want to go to a second theme park, you can make additional FastPass+ selections (one at a time) in another park using the mobile app or a park kiosk. Your initial FastPasses must have been used or expired before you may reserve more.
FastPass+ Tips from [Small World Vacation Agents]( â they can help you figure it all out!
[Small World Vacations]( is team of Authorized Disney Vacation Planners who know how to maximize your time and fun with advanced FastPass+ selections. Our agents are glad to share their firsthand experience with you:
- Have realistic expectations and donât stress about getting every FastPass on your wish list. There are plenty of other [fun things to do at Walt Disney World](. Remember, itâs all about sharing special moments with your family and friends. There is no test at the end of the day to see how many rides you rode.
- Decide on your “must see” and “must do” attractions early. Make selections accordingly – if you plan to spend multiple days in the theme parks, spread your selections out over several days.
- Before you make your FastPass+ selections check the [Official Walt Disney World Theme Park Hours]( and have your itinerary planned. [Touringplans.com]( has lots of invaluable planning tools including a [crowd calendar]( and [daily touring plans](.
- Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World author Len Testa shares his advice for making FastPass+ selections â âThe best-case scenario for FastPass+ selections is that you get your initial 3 advance choices for the first 3 hours you’re in the park. If you do this, you can get additional same day FastPasses sooner.â [Read Touringplans Blog for everything you need to know about FastPass+](.
- Make sure you coordinate your FastPass+ selections with your Advanced Dining Reservations.
- Begin by securing FastPasses on the days toward the end of your vacation. This strategy takes advantage of the fact that last days of your trip will be out of the 60-day range for some people traveling around the same time as you.
- Disney Resort Hotel Guests â If you go to [Early Morning Extra Magic Hours]( or go as soon as the park opens at 9 am, choose FastPasses for 11 am â 2 pm ride times.
- Think twice before selecting evening FastPasses. Using a FastPass for nighttime entertainment will lock you into that FastPass until after the show concludes.
- If you are traveling with kids, [check ride height restrictions at this link]( and in your [MDE]( account when you select your FastPasses.
- If you have older kids, you might consider taking advantage of the single rider option for thrill rides for which you couldnât get a FastPass.
- If you are traveling with guests on another reservation(s), link your reservations together on My Disney Experience so you can coordinate your travel plans. [Click here for instructions](.
What to do if you donât have a FastPass or you just donât want to set them up?
- If you were unable to secure a FastPass for a specific attraction, keep checking back on your My Disney Experience account. A good time to try is around 30 days prior to your arrival, which is when final payments are due. This is when people might cancel their resort reservation and free up some FastPasses. Donât give up â we have scored FastPasses on the day we were in the park.
- Get to the parks early, at least 30 â 60 minutes before park opening so you can be ready when the park officially opens. This will give you a better chance to ride attractions without much wait in the stand by line. This is especially true in Pandora at Avatar Flight of Passage.
- Each day, Disney Resort Hotel guests can go to [Extra Magic Hours]( in the morning or evening at a specific theme park. FastPasses are not available during [Extra Magic Hours]( or select [special events, including holiday parties](.
- Take advantage of afternoon and evening parades and fireworks to avoid longer lines at headliner rides. Many people line up along the streets to save their spot. This is a great time to take advantage of shorter lines at the rides.
- Want to watch the parade? Ask a Cast Member where the parade will start. Choose a spot in that area for viewing. When the parade passes, you can head to the attractions close by while other guests are still waiting for the parade arrive.
- When you are in a theme park, use the Disney Phone app as well as the [Touring Plans Lines app]( to check for current wait times before heading to an attraction.
- Follow a customized itinerary from [Touringplans.com]( to cut down on your wait times.
- Character Meals are an ideal way to meet Mickey, Minnie, and the Princesses, etc. This lets you avoid long lines at meet and greets in the parks.
- Have you heard of the single rider line? You might sit next to someone you donât know, but youâll cut the long stand by lines at rides like Rock N Rollercoaster, Test Track and Expedition Everest.
- Schedule your meals at off times so you can take advantage of shorter lines at the attractions when other guests are eating at typical lunch and dinner times.
- Some rides have interactive queues that entertain guests as they wait in line. You might forgo using a FastPass on these rides – Haunted Mansion, Dumbo, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. (Space Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train have interactive queues, but the stand by lines on those rides can be really long.)
- If you were unable to get a FastPass for the very popular Frozen Ever After in Epcot, you might book the Frozen Ever After Dessert Party at Epcot World Showcase. There is a cost for this experience. It includes dessert buffet, reserved viewing of Illuminations and a ride on Frozen Ever After.
- Be on the lookout for ways to âearnâ extra FastPasses. One current (and not well known), way to earn a paper Fastpass for the Pirates of The Caribbean ride is to complete 2 of the 5 âA Pirateâs Adventure â Treasures of the Seven Seasâ missions in Adventureland. This FastPass reward is subject to change.
- If money is no object and your time is limited, you might consider setting up a private [VIP tour](. Your VIP tour guide can get you all the FastPasses you desire.
