:dial up noise: # {NAME}, The last time we had a major update to the U.S. immigration system, Mac computers looked like this: [ That's the Macintosh Plus -- released in 1986. And just like you wouldn't use this outdated Mac for your work in 2021, our immigration system shouldn't be running on rules and guidelines that are over 30 years old. That's why, last week, I introduced the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021. This bill would create a roadmap to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants, address the root causes of migration, improve immigration courts, protect workers from exploitation, and fund state and local governments to assist with integration and English-language instruction. But if we're to pass true immigration reform in this country, it won't happen unless we make our voices heard. {NAME}, that's why I'm calling on every American -- everyone who was outraged at the sight of children in cages and families being separated at our border, who protested the racist Muslim ban, who rallied behind Dreamers -- to join me by co-sponsoring my bill and showing Congress that we demand immigration reform now. It is time for a major overhaul to a system that gets more and more outdated by the week. The 11 million undocumented immigrants who live here deserve the certainty of a path to citizenship. They are our neighbors and our friends. They harvest our food, pack our groceries, hold our loved one's hands as they are ill, and so much more. We need an immigration system that reflects our better angels and welcomes anyone who believes in America as the land of opportunity. A place where the son of a Cuban seamstress can become a U.S. senator. I'm proud to be leading the charge in the Senate. But I need you with me to get this done.
