Insider's pricing at up to 50% off... Wednesday May 17th, 2023 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( Insider's Cabernet Deals with Excellent Pedigree "Folks looking for an incredible deal in Cabernet need look no further..." — Ryan Woodhouse, K&L Domestic Wine Buyer --------------------------------------------------------------- Upstart Artisan winemaker Josh Phelps, whose dad Chris was the founding winemaker at Napa icon Dominus, has honed his skills across the west coast, including working alongside his father for their cult-caliber Ad Vivum label. His Grounded wines are bottlings that manage to pack classic power into an accessible value package. These are bold, opulent wines with the polish and class you'd expect from the Phelps clan, yet they come in at a red-hot Insider's pricing that makes it easy to stock up in multiples. We have a HUGE discount on the last few cases of this bold, fruit-forward easy to drink Red Blend from Washington's Columbia Valley, crafted by rising start winemaker Josh Phelps at Ground Wine Co. Josh learnt his trade from his Dad, Chris Phelps, who just happened to be the founding winemaker at Dominus for 15 years! The wine is composed from 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Malbec, 6% Merlot. Woodhouse]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: May 16, 2023 Folks looking for an incredible deal in Cabernet need look no further than this beauty from Josh Phelps at Grounded Wine Co. Josh was brought up in the wine business, his father Chris Phelps was the founding winemaker at Christian Moueix's Dominus Estate. Chris spent 15 years at Dominus making some of the most highly regarded wines of a generation. His son Josh lives in Napa and makes a range of wines from top vineyards closer to home and across California. He's also involved with Ad Vivum wines that his father makes from the famed Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville. Despite this incredible Cult Napa Cab pedigree, Josh has always been interested in making wines for the people - affordable wines for everyday drinking with out sacrificing quality. This aim took him to Washington State's Columbia Valley that grows some of the best value Cabernet (and other Bordeaux varietals) on the planet. Taking this very well priced raw material, and his Napa know-how, Josh created this "Collusion" bottling that is well worth it's usual $25 price tag. However, we struck a deep deal with Josh to clear out the last cases of an older vintage. Hence our ludicrously low Insider's Advantage price! But don't be scared off by the low price point, this delivers the goods! Plenty of ripe, soft, lush dark fruit, plum, blackberry, camphor, rock dust. There's some brambly red fruits from the Malbec, too. Full bodied with a bold core of fruit and rounded texture. It's drinking beautifully with a couple years in the bottle to smooth it out. At almost 50% off and under $13 this is a steal for sure! --------------------------------------------------------------- [2016 Grounded Wine Co. "Steady State" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $50+)]( Grounded Wine Co. "Steady State" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $50+)]( ($39.95) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This impressive red overdelivers on its price point, combining the main variety with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Merlot, aging the whole in French oak for 18 months (40% of it new). Truffled earth, compost, bark and gunpowder give it a savory edge that leads to a juicy, balanced midpalate of black fruit, cocoa powder and dust. *Editors' Choice* (VB)" (11/2019) Woodhouse]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: May 16, 2023 Grounded Wine Co. proprietor and winemaker Josh Phelps is a true Napa thoroughbred. His father Josh Phelps was the founding winemaker at Dominus Estate for 15 years and to this day makes one of my favorite Cabs in all of Napa the Ad Vivum Cab from Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville. Josh grew up around wine and it was almost assured he would end up in the business, too. As one of the most well-liked and personable young winemakers in the valley, Josh is able to source top-notch fruit from great vineyards for his Steady State Napa Cabernet. As you can see from the broad critical acclaim, plenty of folks tagged this as a top value even at it's typical $50+ price point. But once again here at K&L we worked our magic to bring the price down to an even more affordable $39.95...and on the exceptional 2016 vintage release nonetheless! This shows the typical power and concentration of the vintage - bold, dense cassis fruit, elderberry, a little redcurrant too. Some more savory hints of sage and mountain herbs mingle with loamy earth. Beautifully integrated oak spice gives it a gentle kiss on the finish. This is an awesome, really well made, delicious Napa Cabernet for drinking anytime over the next 5-10 years without over-spending! --------------------------------------------------------------- [New Feed]( [Auction]( [Local]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [On the Trail (K&L Blog)]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [Instagram]( [Instagram]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [BORDEAUX]( | [NAPA]( | [BURGUNDY]( | [CHAMPAGNE]( | [ITALY]( | [RHÔNE]( | [SPIRITS]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [My Account]( | [Wine Clubs]( | [Events]( |[Gift Cards]( | [Accessories]( | [Delivery]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Missed an offer?
