Can't-miss Insider's pricing for Rhône-style benchmarks... Tuesday May 24th, 2022 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( Bonny Doon Library Stunners at Over 50% Off 2015 & 2016 Le Cigare Volant direct from the winery… --------------------------------------------------------------- We keep bringing you winery-direct, door-buster deals from Bonny Doon, and you keep buying us out of stock in no time. And since one good turn deserves another (or two in this case), we now have the 2015 and 2016 vintages of Randall Graham’s flagship Le Cigare Volant at the same jaw-dropping Insider’s pricing of just $19.95 each. Those who were quick on the trigger with the previous library vintages we’ve offered in this campaign already know what kind of unbeatable QPR you’re getting with these wines. Made in a staunchly old-school style that pays brilliant tribute to the great wines of the Southern Rhône, the Cigare Volant has always been a California benchmark for Rhône blends. As our previous offerings have amply demonstrated already, these wines are superbly crafted with tons of upside potential still left to give in the cellar. The 93-point 2015 and the 94-point 2016 are more than set up to provide the same classic Bonny Doon experience that fans of this inimitable estate have come to know and love. By now, savvy buyers know the drill, and they’ll be acting decisively to stock their cellar before these can’t-miss library stars inevitably sell out. The blend of 57% Grenache, 17% Cinsault, 16% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah is visceral on the palate with its bloody and dried meat flavors, yet with snappy red fruit that stays vibrant into the rusty finish. (MK)" (07/2021) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Precise and appealingly Old World in style, offering smoky raspberry, spice box and black olive flavors and a hint of leather, finishing with refined tannins. (TF)" (04/2009) Woodhouse]( | K&L Domestic Buyer | Review Date: May 23, 2022 I'm lucky enough to have tasted every vintage of this wine ever made. When I worked for Bonny Doon we hosted an anniversary dinner with the full vertical of wines from 1982-2007. Though I left Bonny Doon in 2010, I have continued to keep one eye on what weird and wonderful things have come from this iconic winery and have a long-lasting respect for what Randall has contributed to the wine world. The 2015 strikes me as a wine where he absolutely nailed what he set out to do—make an Old World-inspired wine right here on the Central Coast of California. As both of the critical reviews point out, this is a distinctly complex and savory wine that would make a very difficult imposter to root-out from a blind Rhône tasting. There's lots of smoked meat, briary dark fruit, garrigue, crushed rock, earth and leather. There's plenty of fruit concentration and density on the palate, but the array of other aromas and flavors is quite fascinating. Tasting this along side the 2016 is a really interesting contrast. The 2016 has a lot more ripeness and forward fruit. The 2015 is somewhat restrained and less about immediate appeal than a slow, measured unfurling. Both are really great wines that are ludicrously good at this price point. Like the previous vintages we've offered, these will go fast and there's nothing left when these sell out. --------------------------------------------------------------- [2016 Bonny Doon "Le Cigare Volant" Central Coast Rhône Blend (Elsewhere $45)]( Bonny Doon "Le Cigare Volant" Central Coast Rhône Blend (Elsewhere $45)]( ($19.95) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Deep and dark aromas of boysenberry are integrated into the tarry, wet soil and light pepper touches on this blend of 41% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, and 14% Cinsaut. The palate is intense and richer than usual for this bottling, offering dark berry, black pepper and charcuterie on the finish, as smooth tannins provide just enough bite. (MK)" (07/2021) Woodhouse]( | K&L Domestic Buyer | Review Date: May 23, 2022 An explosive, powerful rendition of Le Cigare Volant! Wow, this is very different from the savory, brooding, layered 2015. This is bursting with perfectly ripe, exotic, spicy fruit. Black raspberry, brambly fruit, Christmas cake spice, soft, lush and mouth-filling. There's a nice flash of seared meat and cracked pepper to add some savory elements, but in general this is one of the richer, more saturated, fruit-forward Cigare Volants I've had ... and I love it! The quality of the fruit from Randall's exceptional old-vine sources is on full display here. These ancient vines, finally nourished by the much needed rains that fell in the winter of 2015/16, evidently produced an exceptional crop that Randall has masterfully captured in this top-notch bottling. This stands up to the best of the best from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It's more than worth its original $45 SRP, and at our best-ever Insider's Advantage price, it's simply astonishing. Blink and you'll miss it. --------------------------------------------------------------- [New Feed]( [Auction]( [Local]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [On the Trail (K&L Blog)]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [Instagram]( [Instagram]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [BORDEAUX]( | [NAPA]( | [BURGUNDY]( | [CHAMPAGNE]( | [ITALY]( | [RHÔNE]( | [SPIRITS]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [My Account]( | [Wine Clubs]( | [Events]( |[Gift Cards]( | [Accessories]( | [Delivery]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Missed an offer?
