[Castello Banfi] --------------------------------------------------------------- Leading the way this week is a massive deal on a must try single vineyard Pinot Noir. 2016 Byron Solomon Hills Vineyard Pinot beautifully showcases one of the better sites from the Santa Maria Valley, clearly evident with their WA93, V92 press and a well-deserved $45 retail price. At our new one-time pricing, it is one of the best buys on our shelf right now, while it lasts. As Antonio Galloni says, it is “a wine of energy and cut” and that “the Solomon Hills has so much to offer…it will be utterly irresistible.” We’re quick to echo that enthusiasm, and just brought in as much as we could get at this price. Next up is the highly anticipated new vintage of 2008 Billecart-Salmon Cuvée Louis, one of our favorite labels in Champagne from a reference-point vintage in the region. Originating from the best parcels of the Côte des Blancs, Cuvée Louis has been a favorite of ours for a while now, but the 2008 takes things to another level, as this vintage is wont to do. Highlighted by the depth, refinement, and precision that we come to expect from the best of Billecart-Salmon, it is a brilliant release that has few peers on today’s market. In stock and ready to ship or pickup, Champagne collectors of all stripes should make a run at 2008 Cuvée Louis and experience it for themselves. Last up is a duo represents the brilliance that can be found at the top of the 2015 vintage – one that provided a ton of rewarding wines that matched structure and detail in a flat-out delicious style that is undeniable. Leading off is the Cab Franc dominated Le Dôme (WA98+) and our parcel is the best price you’ll find on today’s market. Speaking of treasured 2015s, Smith Haut Lafitte’s rendition has become a collector favorite – elusive for not only the special label, but celebrated for being a reference-point edition from the estate. Called “the greatest wine ever from here” by James Suckling in a 99-point review, it is an undeniable success.
