Don't Miss a 95-Point, Benchmark California Chard at Best Pricing
[2016 Hanzell "Estate" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay
(Elsewhere $65+)]( ($39.95)
"This world-class bottle is worth every cent of its typical $65 price, but right now we're offering it at a stunningly low price you have to see to believe!"
â Ryan Woodhouse, K&L Domestic Buyer --------------------------------------------------------------- One good turn deserves another, so following on the heels of our spectacular deal on the 2015 Hanzell Chardonnay, our domestic team worked their magic again to secure the same incredible pricing on the equally stunning 2016 vintage. Our Insiders once again have access to one of the most historically inspired and classically chiseled California Chardonnays at a thoroughly jaw-dropping, best-in-market price (by far). A wine that Vinous' Antonio Galloni calls "a finessed, translucent, incredibly distinctive Chardonnay," this hits it out of the park for fans of the style. Domestic buyer Ryan Woodhouse found it "elegant and vibrant with a soft, almost ethereal texture ... drinking beautifully right now, but will age like top white Burgundy for a decade or more without question." Like its predecessor, this sterling 2016 represents one of the most outstanding buys in its category that will almost assuredly be a hands-down best seller when all is said and done. Whether you missed your shot at the 2015 or you got all you wanted and more, be sure to act quickly on this unbeatable opportunity, as we fully expect it to fly out the door. [Hanzell Vineyard] --------------------------------------------------------------- [2016 Hanzell "Estate" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $65+)]( Hanzell "Estate" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $65+)]( ($39.95) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This impressive white delivers a core of quince, lemon rind and apple that blends with accents of white flower and lemongrass. Crisp acidity drives the freshness on the textured palate, offering elegance and plenty of layers of intrigue. This will do well in the cellar. (VB)" (05/2019) 94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Chardonnay is a very pretty, understated wine from Hanzell. Lifted, gracious and quite subtle, it is super-expressive today. Readers should expect a finessed, translucent, incredibly distinctive Chardonnay laced with a range of floral, savory and mineral nuances. (AG)" (03/2019) 93+ points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Chardonnay offers subdued notes of pear blossom, cheese rind, cremini mushroom, fresh apples, hay and clover honey with baker's yeast hints. The light to medium-bodied palate begins minerally before fleshing out to honeyed fruits lifted by juicy acidity and finishing long and nutty. This took a long time to come around after being open, so give it more time in bottle or a long decant. Once again, we've managed to secure a phenomenal price on this iconic, benchmark California Chardonnay. Hanzell is one of the most historic and celebrated estates in the nation. On the mountain slopes above the town of Sonoma, you will find some of the oldest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines in the state, dating back to 1953! Since 2014, under the guidance of President and Director of Winemaking Jason Jardine, Hanzell has taken farming to a whole new level by moving to organic, biodynamic, and regenerative methods. The wines, which were already some of the best in the region, have taken on an even keener focus and sense of place. The 2016 shows wonderful floral notes of orchard blossom and summer meadow, baked pear tart with warm pastry notes. The mid-palate is elegant and vibrant with a soft, almost ethereal texture. Lots of savory yeasty notes and stony minerals lead into a wonderfully flavorful and persistent finish with lifted acidity and freshness for days. This wine is drinking beautifully right now but will age like a top white Burgundy for a decade or more without question. This world-class bottle is worth every cent of its typical $65 price, but right now we're offering this at a stunningly low price you have to see to believe! The last vintage was one of the best-selling wines of the year, and our staff are already filling their own cellars with the 2016, so get it while you can! Stromer]( | K&L Domestic Buyer | Review Date: December 21, 2021 It's hard to top the stellar remarks posted by my colleagues for this specific wine. Our collective praise is far from hyperbole. This historic estate has the proven track record of producing some of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from California. Old vines perfectly situated in meticulously farmed hillside vineyards will ultimately yield magnificent wines. The 2016 Chardonnay is one such example. I loved our offering for the 2015 vintage, which was a smashing success with our clientele, but I would argue that the 2016 is an even better wine. It's quite delicious right out of the bottle, but I found that with a little time in the decanter, all new aspects of were revealed. There's plenty of crushed stone minerality complemented with an array of lemon drop, Bosc pear, and Golden Delicious apple. There's both great intensity and freshness with a sense of luxury and pedigree. I just recently blind-tasted some very seasoned industry friends on the 2016, and the prevailing guess was Puligny-Montrachet. It's that good and well worth loading up on. Smith]( | K&L New Zealand Buyer | Review Date: December 20, 2021 I absolutely love the wines of Hanzell. With some of the oldest vines in all of Sonoma, they are a true classic in every sense of the word. Yet, as good as their Pinot Noir can be, their Chardonnay is what gets my heart racing. Hanzell is one of my top five favorite Chardonnay producers of all time, and the 2016 is a perfect example of why. The nose is a pure essence of lemon drop, complemented by white flowers, subtle baking spice, and a nuance of pear. Full and round on the palate with acidity that cracks right through the center, this wine is in a perfect spot for me. Hints of marzipan, blanched pear, and the slightest touch of caramel only add to its brilliant complexity. This is a perfect example of why I think Hanzell is an absolute top player in American Chardonnay. McIntosh]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: December 21, 2021 Lovely Chardonnay that has so much to offer! It reminds me of Meursault in every aspect. Texture and weight are well balanced and supported by fresh acidity. It shines with rich citrus and a supple, long finish. It's a must-buy for everyone who loves dry Chardonnay. --------------------------------------------------------------- [New Feed]( [Auction]( [Local](
