[Muga Vineyards] --------------------------------------------------------------- This week's new arrivals are led off by an enticing, one-time opportunity on a flamboyant, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa's benchmark 2016 vintage. The 2016 Beringer Distinction Series shows off all the modern flair and upfront appeal that many Napa fans have come to know and love. With a 94-point review from Jeb Dunnuck, who calls it "a forward, sexy, incredibly satisfying style," and a K&L Insiders' sub-$40 price, this flat-out delicious beauty will serve up immense pleasure for any gathering of holiday party goers, but it will also rest and evolve nicely for several more years. Next up, we bring you a downright unbeatable buy in collectible Rioja in the 2016 Muga Selección Especial Reserva. Sourced from terraced vineyards over 35 years in age, it’s a perennial standout value from one of Spain’s most cherished properties from one of the region's great vintages, and at less than $40 it presents a staggering level of character and style for its price point. Sterling critical acclaim confirms the 2016 vintage as a reference point for this bottling, with James Suckling noting in his 95-point review, “Plenty of subtle fruit and supple tannins take you to where you want to go in fine Rioja red.” Jeb Dunnuck was similarly impressed when he wrote, “Almost Rhône-like with its spicy, meaty, gamey style, this beauty … is just a class act.” Perhaps best of all, the Selección Especial is a wonderfully versatile bottling that can offer plenty of enjoyment today, but it will more than hold its own in the cellar for a seriously long time. Finally, a can't-miss trio from one of Sancerre's most distinguished names has just come back in stock and provides definitive proof that the world's best Sauvingon Blancs offer incredible collectible appeal while remaining standout QPR buys. The 2019s from Domaine Vacheron are picture-perfect examples of Sancerre terroir and this producer's inimitable mastery of the Sauv Blanc grape. At well under $40, the appellation bottling is "classy, polished and pedigreed through and through," according to Vinous' Antonio Galloni. Not to be missed, the single-vineyard bottlings are crystalline expressions of the domaine's most prized holdings that, like the appellation wine, provide absolutely mind-boggling stylistic panache for a relative steal.
