Our Newest Acquisitions and Returning Favorites, All In One Place... Tuesday Sep 21st, 2021 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( Whether it is a new allocation or an old favorite, below you will find our most recent additions to the diverse selection at K&L Wine Merchants. We receive new opportunities weekly, from direct imports to local distributors to carefully inspected back-vintage collections—read on for the best of this week's discoveries. Here is a look at our full list of [New Arrivals](. Here is our full list of items that are [Back in Stock](. Here you can browse [all our recent additions on the website](. [Larknead Estates] --------------------------------------------------------------- We thought that the best of the reference-point 2016 Barbaresco vintage was long gone, but today’s new add of Giacosa Fratelli's 2016 "Vigna Gianmaté" that garnered a WS95 score is a breath of fresh air for any collector of Piedmont’s finest. Coming from a two-hectare block within the Basarin Cru, it is a plot that is prized by Giacosa Fratelli for its unique character, representing their top expression of Barbaresco. Wine Spectator’s 95-point score puts the 2016 "Vigna Gianmaté" in company with top releases from the vintage like Gaja (Sorì Tildìn), Bruno Giacosa (Rabajà ), Pio Cesare (Il Bricco), and Produttori del Barbaresco (Ovello, Pajé, Pora). All of that for under $40 means you’re looking at a quintessential example of the Langhe’s famed 2016 vintage for a song. A winery that Luis Gutiérrez of Wine Advocate says “will soon be an important name in Ribera del Duero,” there is perhaps no better vintage to start with than the incredible 2016. If the famed Vega Sicilia Unico is the Latour of Spain, then 2016 Vivaltus aspires to be Pétrus. Lofty aspirations, but not unfounded, as this new project has none other than Jean-Claude Berrouet at the helm, famed winemaker for over 40 years at Pétrus! Berrouet is going for his signature elegance and supple texture in Vivaltus and the early returns on this old vine selection are more than promising with a WA96 score where Gutiérrez was awestruck, calling it “really amazing.” Considering the comparisons to the greatest wines of Spain and France, this debut has tons of upside and should be up for consideration in any serious cellar. The 2018s from Anakota are wines that any lover of the finest in California Cabernet should not miss. Anakota excelled in 2018 and crafted wines that will rival many cult-caliber wines at multiples of today’s pricing. Leading the way is the Helena Montana, a double 97-pointer that Jeb Dunnuck mused would fit “in a lineup of First Growth Bordeaux and do just fine.” The Helena Dakota notched a nearly perfect mark, with a WA99 score and a JD98+ note where Dunnuck said it is “on par with the finest Bordeaux blends coming out of California today.” Both crafted with 100% Cabernet from some of the finest vineyards in the Knights Valley, they are best buys in a category that includes names like Verité, Peter Michael, and Morlet. Arriving next week, these remarkable collectibles will be cellar superstars for years to come.
