Thus it follows that specific vineyard sites in New Zealand's Marlborough region are carefully selected each year to produce this wine. Fruit is night-harvested, when the temperatures are cool to minimize oxidation, making it easier to manage in the winery. Look for what you know and love about this refreshing Kiwi staple: upfront herbaceous aromas, backed by ripe fruit flavors of melon, passion fruit and crisp acidity. [2015 Ronco Blanchis Pinot Grigio Collio]( [2015 Ronco Blanchis Pinot Grigio Collio]( ($14.99) 92 points James Suckling: "Complex aromas of sliced apples, lemon curd and hot stones. Medium to full body, beautiful fruit and a bright finish. I like the layered texture to this." (11/2016) Parres]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: March 02, 2017 The 2015 Pinot Grigio has really nice concentration, ripe apple, and peach stones, with hints of lemon peel and wet stone. Medium-bodied, with a good grip and a long, memorable finish, great for just sipping on in the evening or would love something with a lot of spice. [2015 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie]( [2015 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie]( ($17.99) 92 points Vinous: "Deep ruby. Heady red and blue fruit, potpourri and fruitcake aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a minerally nuance with air. Combines power and finesse with a deft hand, offering palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors that spread out slowly on the back half. Shows real intensity and a suave floral pastille quality on the youthfully tannic finish, which leaves a sappy blue fruit note behind. (JR)" (08/2016) Norton]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: March 02, 2017 The 2015 Clos De La Roilette has more depth and concentration than most Gamays on the market. Packed with blue fruit and crushed granite on the nose that continues gracefully onto the palate. An exquisitely dense and structured wine considering how hot 2015 was in Fleurie. Check this wine out, it's well worth the money. [2015 Seghesio Sonoma County Zinfandel]( ($21.99) 90 points Wine Spectator: "This is loaded with zesty blackberry and raspberry fruit, offering a vibrant structure and appealing accents of toasted sage, white pepper and licorice. Drink now through 2027. (TF)" (03/2017) [2010 Cune Gran Reserva Rioja]( [2010 Cune Gran Reserva Rioja]( ($24.99) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors' Choice* Certain wines exude a sense of elevated excellence. This one gets to that level via aromas of spice cake, baked plum and tobacco aromas. A stocky saturated palate is structured and built to age, while this tastes of cool blue fruits, herbs, coffee and chocolate. A smoothly textured finish deals cocoa and mocha notes. Drink through 2040. (MS)" (04/2017) Manekin]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: March 06, 2017 It's tough to get an authentic Gran Reserva Rioja for this price for a simple reason: Gran reservas cost! A minimum of two years' barrel ageing and three years in the bottle means that a winery must taste and manage the wine in barrel, then sit on inventory for a total of at least five years before selling it. With this release, Cune is cementing their reputation as a winery that can produce delicious, yet authentic and convincing, entry level Gran Reserva for a value price. As you've often heard us say, 2010 was amazing in Rioja and this wine shows it: expressive aromas of dark and red fruits on the nose, with subtle hints of cedar and vanilla, lead to an open knit, precise palate of fresh, lively fruits. The bright, intense quality to this wine speaks to the vintage and Cune's know how. This is nearly pitch perfect for drinking now, though it will improve mid-term if you would like to cellar. Delicious! [2012 Provenance Napa Valley Merlot]( [2012 Provenance Napa Valley Merlot]( ($24.99) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Merlot Barrel Select ratchets up things rather nicely, with more mocha, black cherry fruit, slightly more body, deeper color and more substance and depth. This wine should turn out to be quite nice. (RP)" (10/2014) [2015 Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon]( [2015 Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon]( ($29.99) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Morgon has a clean and vibrant bouquet with perfumed dark cherries, redcurrant, a touch of gravel and touches of rose petal. The palate is nicely structured, brimming over with energy. The acidity is very well judged, quite sturdy as Morgon should be, no hard edges here but just the background 'hum' of tension from start to finish. This is just a superb Morgon from Mathieu and Camille Lapierre. (NM)" (07/2016) 93 points Vinous: "Bright magenta. An expressive, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits and candied flowers, and suggestions of smoky minerals and Asian spices add vivacity. Concentrated, seamless and alluringly sweet, offering juicy, mineral-laced raspberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors and a subtle white pepper quality that builds on the back half. Finishes with superb focus and tenacity, leaving an echo of sappy red berries behind. (JR)" (01/2017) K&L Notes: Wine is due July 2016. From the Cru Beaujolais region of Morgon, the Domaine Lapierre Morgon vineyard is planted in soils of decomposed rocks and crumbly schist. Owned and run by Marcel and Mathieu Lapierre, the vines are raised without the use of artificial fertilizers or herbicides, and the father-son team have also been experimenting with Biodynamics on some of their older vines. This natural wine is full of red fruit, with a lushness and freshness that set it apart from many Beaujolais. If you haven't tried a Cru Beaujolais before, this gem is a great place to start. [2012 Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino]( [2012 Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino]( ($29.99) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Ripe, slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, chocolate and minerals. Large-scaled, intensely flavored and well-delineated, showing a pronounced flinty aspect to the fresh red and darker berry flavors. Finishes pure and long, with a firm tannic backbone that avoids coming off as dry. (IDA)" (12/2014) Vinous: "The 2012 Rosso di Montalcino is soft, silky and expressive. Floral notes meld into soft red fruit in a pretty, delicate Rosso to drink now and over the next few years. (AG)" (02/2015) Wine Spectator: "Starts out with cherry and earth notes, turning tight and austere on the finish. Food will help tame this, as will a little time in the bottle. (BS, Web-2014)" [2013 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River Western Australia (Elsewhere $40)]( Price: Hidden 95 points James Halliday: "Interesting, very interesting. The colour, the freshness of the aromas and flavours, the finely sculpted tannins and the overall harmony suggest 13.5% alcohol, not 14.5%. All this conjecture is, of course, irrelevant: it is the outcome that matters - here a distillation of elegance." 93 points James Suckling: "Classic red fruits and chocolate here, boysenberry and bright cassis too. Really upbeat and bright, with a little gravel thread. Super refined palate with smooth and fleshy texture. The tannins spread fine and even and there is plenty of red berry fruit and chocolate through the finish. Really fine. Best from 2019." 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "**Cellar Selection** This is firm, dusty and seemingly built for the cellar. Toasty, cedary and chocolaty oak frames dark fruit, yet it remains fresh in character, not dried or overripe. The finish is long, tannic and reminiscent of fine Bordeaux. Try after 2020." [2011 Bodegas Muga "Selección Especial" Reserva Rioja]( [2011 Bodegas Muga "Selección Especial" Reserva Rioja]( ($34.99) 95 points James Suckling: "A complex nose of dried strawberries with slate and white-truffle undertones. Hints of Spanish cedar. Full body, juicy tannins and bright acidity that follows through to a long, clean and earthy finish. A great wine that shows structure and complexity. Drink or hold." (12/2016) 93 points Vinous: "(aged for 26 months in French oak casks) Bright ruby. Fresh red berry, cherry, mocha and floral scents are complicated by suggestions of cola and vanilla. Intense black raspberry, bitter cherry and rose pastille flavors deepen and pick up a sweet hint of mocha on the back half. The lively, emphatically fruity, impressively long finish displays very good finishing clarity; dusty, firming tannins lend shape and gentle grip. (JR)" (01/2017) 93 points Wine Spectator: "This red has a firm backbone and a solid texture, with harmonious flavors of plum, blackberry, licorice, cocoa and espresso. Concentrated yet graceful, showing alluring mineral and floral notes on the finish. Drink now through 2026. (TM)" (03/2017) [2012 Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)]( ($39.99) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Fattoria dei Barbi 2012 Brunello di Montalcino offers a clear and bright quality of fruit. This wine really hits the high notes better than most others in its class. Stefano Cinelli Colombini and his team have done a fine job with this Brunello annata. Beyond the dark cherry and cassis are elegant tones of dried herb, tar and rose petal. The bouquet reaches harmony and finesse. In fact, you'd hardly know just how warm this summer growing season was because the fruit appears not to have suffered one bit. The tannins are delicate and silky. (ML)" (02/2017) [Hennessy Limited Edition "Master Blender's Selection - No. 1" Cognac (375ml)]( [Hennessy Limited Edition "Master Blender's Selection - No. 1" Cognac (375ml)]( ($39.99) This unique Cognac was crafted as a single batch by Yann Fillioux, 7th generation Master Blender, using hand-selected Eaux-de-vie and is aged in both young and old French barrels. It is bottled at 43% ABV to release powerful aromatic tones combined with delicate spicy notes. A full-bodied and refined blend. [2012 Delas Freres "Domaine de Tourettes" Hermitage (Pre-Arrival)]( ($49.99) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just a small step back from the Les Bessards, the 2012 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes is a stunning effort that exhibits blockbuster notes of toasted spice, leather, peppery herbs and sweet black and blue fruit. Seeing 16 months in 60% new French oak, it's a powerful, concentrated and full-bodied effort that has lots of tannin, but more than enough fruit to handle it. Like the Les Bessards, shorter-term cellaring is advised here and it will have over two decades of longevity. (JD)" (12/2014) [2009 Franck Bonville "Millesime" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne]( [2009 Franck Bonville "Millesime" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne]( ($49.99) Franck Bonville today is run by Olivier Bonville, the great grandson of Franck who acts as the proprietor of his family's estate. With 20 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Avize, Oger, Cramant and Mesnil, Bonville's wines are made entirely from Grand Cru-level Chardonnay and therefore labeled as Blanc de Blanc. Their wines always have a wonderful richness balanced by an incredibly chalky minerality that pierces through the Chardonnay flavor. The standard Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc is one of the most popular and successful wines in the history of K&L, a perpetual customer favorite that our Champagne shoppers come back to time and time again. Westby]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: March 04, 2017 We drank a bottle of this last night while closing the store, and I was surprised at just how good this Champagne showed. This has the focus and snap of many 2008's, and an incredibly long, mineral driven finish. Most of the 2009's I have had have been much broader and lower in acid than this all Avize Grand Cru super star. While it is showing great now, I think this has a lot of potential for the future! [2009 Gitton Père & Fils "Galinots" Sancerre]( ($56.99) Gitton was established in 1945 with an eye toward producing traditional, single-vineyard Sancerre and has never wavered in its commitment to excellent wines. From one acre at their founding, they've grown to nearly 60 of the best in the region. All of their wines are estate grown and vinified with native yeasts. The Galinots is hand harvested from nearly 70-year-old vines in Sparnacian flint soil. This is a wine made to develop with bottle age. [2015 La Ferme du Mont "Côtes Capelan" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)]( ($59.99) 94-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better than the Vendange cuvee, and I suspect one of the wines of the vintage, Stephanes 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Côtes Capelan is the top wine of the estate and is made from 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, raised 70% in concrete and 30% in barrels. Theres under 500 cases of this beauty and it reveals a deep purple color as well as decadent notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed rocks and melted licorice. Full-bodied, thick, unctuous and massively concentrated, with ripe tannin and a killer finish, dont miss it! If you havent figured it out yet, Stephane Vedeaus La Ferme du Mont is one of the up and coming superstars of the Southern Rhône. Moreover, dont miss his Côtes du Rhône releases, or his Clos Bellane releases, for that matterboth of which fly under the radar. (JD)" (10/2016) [2005 Roger Sabon "Prestige" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)]( ($59.99) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and the rest a mix of permitted varieties, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Prestige is a blockbuster that competes with the top wines in the vintage! Loaded with notes of ripe blackberry-like fruit, roasted meats, olive tapenade and truffle, this puppy hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin, and a seamless, downright sexy texture that keeps you coming back for another drink. Gorgeous now, enjoy it anytime over the coming decade or more. (JD)" (02/2016) [High West Bourye Bourbon/Rye Whiskey (750ml)]( [High West Bourye Bourbon/Rye Whiskey (750ml)]( ($69.99) High West's latest batch of Bourye, a marriage of Bourbon and rye adorned with the elusive jackalope - a cross between a jack rabbit and an antelope, is back for another limited run. The Park City, Utah outpost only releases the Bourye when they have sufficient quantities of the necessary ingredients, which are getting more and more difficult to secure in today's market. This latest batch is bottled at 46% ABV and consists of rye and Bourbon whiskies aged 10 to 14 years from MGP Distillery in Indiana, formerly known as LDI and Seagrams. Considering that a simple ten year old American rye whiskey seems to be worth its weight in gold, the fact that High West has included casks of a much older heritage is no simple task. The balance between both the richness of the Bourbon and the spiciness of the rye is quite wonderful here. There are no rough edges, the flavors meander from mellow oak to toasted with vanilla, all with a backbone of peppery rye goodness. We never have the Bourye in stock for long and we're always handling questions about when we'll get more. David Perkins continues to captivate us with his American whiskey blends, now considered the gold standard of the industry. [2014 Shafer "One Point Five" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon]( ($89.99) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five brings together striking aromatic nuance along with the textural richness that is such a signature of this wine. Lavender, rose petal, dark red and bluish fruits and mint are laced together in a refreshing, vibrant Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers the goods. (AG)" (10/2015) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five shows beautiful purity, not the weight, profound depth and structure of the 2013, but it is still medium to full-bodied, elegant, graceful and a classic example of the Stags Leap appellation. (RP)" (10/2016) [2012 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)]( ($94.99) [2006 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)]( ($99.99) 97 points James Suckling: "Love the nose on this with blackberries, sweet tobacco, blueberries. Full body, with soft and silky tannins and a light jammy finish. Lots of dark fruits. Long finish. Loads going on in this one. Give it three to five years. Or more." (01/2011) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino flows with gorgeous layers of dark red fruit. This is one of the more muscular, virile wines of the vintage. Slow to reveal its character, the Valdicava Brunello will require significant patience, but I have seen the wine blossom beautifully, even in the smallest of vintages. A blast of iron, smoke, tar, licorice and new leather inform the deep, intense finish. This is a hugely promising, brilliant Brunello from proprietor Vincenzo Abbruzzese, but it needs to be buried in the cellar for at least a few years. Readers who cant wait should open the wine a few hours in advance, which will allow the fruit to emerge. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. 95+ (AG)" (05/2011) [2007 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)]( ($99.99) 98 points James Suckling: "What beautiful clear fruit here, with plums and spices and hints of flowers. Class. Full- bodied and luscious, this Brunello fills your mouth, with polished velvety tannins and gorgeous fruit. So wonderful and gorgeous. Irresistible." (01/2012) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is gorgeous. Dark red cherries, plums, spices, leather and tobacco wrap around the palate as this dense, powerful wine starts to open up. Expressive aromatics are woven throughout, giving the 2007 a measure of polish and sophistication that is not always present in this wine when it is young. Finessed, suave tannins reinforce an impression of elegance. The 2007 can be enjoyed with minimum cellaring, but it will also age gracefully for many years. Readers who want to try the 2007 today should give the wine plenty of air, as the more refined qualities only emerge over time. When tasted next to the 2006, the 2007 shows redder tonalities of fruit and less sheer muscle. Hints of tobacco, crushed flowers and spices wrap around the sensual finish. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (AG)" (04/2012) [2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape]( [2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape]( ($109.99) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastels 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruits fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. (RP)" (10/2009) 96 points Wine Spectator: "*Collectibles* This extremely dense red delivers layers of melted fig, mulled boysenberry and black currant fruit, all laced with notes of charred mesquite, hoisin sauce and Kenya AA coffee. The long, silky mouthfeel belies the latent power in reserve and there's a lot of it, with waves of grip driving the finish. Best from 2010 through 2030. (JM)" (12/2009) [2010 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino]( [2010 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino]( ($118.95) 99 points James Suckling: "Absolutely stunning aromas of nectarine, orange peel, sweet black cherry, plums and flowers. Licorice and mushroom It's full body, with layers of ultra-fine tannins and hints of tangy acidity. Such beautiful length and beauty to this wine. It's powerful and structured yet shows a gorgeous finesse and length. Truly wondrous. So long and refined. The texture is phenomenal." (12/2014) 96 points Wine Spectator: " *Collectible* Effusive aromas of incense, green olive, sweet strawberry and cherry, licorice and leather mark this structured version. The tannins are on the beefy side, but this finishes long, with enough fruit and spice for balance. Best from 2018 through 2032. (BS)" (04/2015) 94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the very best wines I have tasted here in recent years. Dark red cherries, mint, game, smoke, tobacco and licorice are all deeply expressive in a mid-weight, very classic feeling Brunello long on class and personality. Big yet silky tannins frame the dramatic, intense finish. The Valdicava wines are always big, but the 2010 is a bit pulled back, and striking. (AG)" (02/2015) [2004 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)]( ($118.99) 95 points James Suckling: "Lovely black licorice, flowers, and ripe fruits on the nose. This is very aromatic. Full bodied but tight, this has gone to sleep for the moment." (01/2011) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Displays complex aromas of blackberry and cherry, with a hint of licorice. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a delicious finish of wonderful yet subtle fruit. Well-integrated and beautiful. Everything is in the right place. (JS)" (04/2009) [Old Pulteney 21 Year Old Single Malt Whisky (750ml)]( ($159.99) Whisky Advocate: "Very mouthcoating in texture, with notes of dry vanilla, fat barley, coconut, citrus fruit, and pineapple. Long, intensely appetizing, dry salty finish. As an aperitif, or perhaps with seafood. (Vol. 16, #1)" K&L Notes: Rated the #1 Whisky in the World by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible for 2012. Get it while you can because there's likely to be a run on this once the word gets out. Aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, the 21 year has loads of dried apricots and a supple mouthfeel. The expression, which was created at the Pulteney distillery in Wick, Caithness, scored a record-equaling 97.5 points out of 100 and, in doing so, became only the third single malt to have claimed the title since its inception in 1994. [2005 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac]( [2005 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac]( ($209.99) 96 points James Suckling: "A meaty and decadent Lynch with very ripe currant aromas on the nose. Full body, velvety-textured tannins and a powerful finish. It shows so much structure and fruit yet remains polished and focused. Lovely now to drink but better in 2017." (10/2015) 96 points Wine & Spirits: "There's a relaxed feel to this wine. Cazes's team can dress Lynch-Bages in the black-tie formality of a first growth, but the wine is still lovely-a touch of gaminess makes it friendly rather than ponderous. There's something ethereal about its tannins, like a chocolate truffle melting in the mouth. (Daniel Llose used 80 percent new oak for this vintage; the yields were short so there were more new barrels to go around, and at a tannic index of 82, the wine could handle it). Pure black cherry flavor saturates the wine with freshness; the complexity is intriguing and silken rather than aggressive. This should be readily accessible at ten to 20 years of age and should thrive for years after." (10/2008) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Classic Lynch-Bages with just a bit of extra power and richness. While the tannins are structured, it is the velvety fruit that rolls around the mouth that is the most dominant character. It is coming together into a wine that will be big and dense, but never over the top. (11/2016) 96 points Wine Spectator: "*** Collectibles ***A pure, focused style, with a beam of black cherry anchoring the leather, mineral, hibiscus tea and earth flavors. Well-structured, young and fresh, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit, mineral and woodsy details. Best from 2019 through 2035. 3,900 cases made. (BS)" (06/2016) [2010 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)]( ($237.99) 99 points James Suckling: "Absolutely stunning aromas of nectarine, orange peel, sweet black cherry, plums and flowers. Licorice and mushroom It's full body, with layers of ultra-fine tannins and hints of tangy acidity. Such beautiful length and beauty to this wine. It's powerful and structured yet shows a gorgeous finesse and length. Truly wondrous. So long and refined. The texture is phenomenal." (12/2014) 96 points Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles* Effusive aromas of incense, green olive, sweet strawberry and cherry, licorice and leather mark this structured version. The tannins are on the beefy side, but this finishes long, with enough fruit and spice for balance. Best from 2018 through 2032. (BS)" (06/2015) [2009 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)]( ($249.99) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas and flavors of sandalwood, rose, strawberry and raspberry are married to an elegant, lacy frame. Intense, yet light-weight, with fine complexity and a long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2015 through 2035. (BS)" (06/2012) 94 points Vinous: "The 2009 Clos des Lambrays is ripe, radiant and totally representative of the vintage. Silky tannins frame an expressive core of fruit in this generous, open Clos des Lambrays. The 2009 possesses striking depth and tons of richness allied to a muscular personality. I underestimated the 2009 when I tasted it from barrel. Although very much in the flashy style of the year, the 2009 also has more than enough structure to support mid-term aging at the very least. A round, caressing finish leaves a lasting impression. (AG)" (04/2012) [2014 Lail "J. Daniel Cuvée" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon]( [2014 Lail "J. Daniel Cuvée" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon]( ($249.99) 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The barrel sample of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvée (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the identical sources) exhibits beautiful, sweet tannin, loads of charcoal, a full-bodied flavor profile of blue and black fruits, softer tannins and a more open-knit, up-front appeal than the somewhat firm and more closed blockbuster 2013. In keeping with this vintage character, the wine is very showy, charming and should drink beautifully when released in a year or so, evolving gracefully for at least two decades. With a viticultural legacy dating back to the late 1800s and proprietress Robin Daniel Lails great grand-uncle Gustave Niebaum, the founder of Inglenook Vineyards, theres a lot of history in the Lail family. The wines continue on a very strong qualitative streak, with the less expensive Blueprint wines offering moderate value. Their top cuvées, the Georgia Sauvignon Blanc and J. Daniel Cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, are world-class quality. (RP)" (10/2015) 95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon John Daniel Cuvée turned out beautifully. In fact, it is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Deep, unctuous and powerful, but with good freshness, the 2014 hits all the right notes. Specifically, the 2014 offers tons of richness, but without the heaviness or raisinated character that has defined some previous years. This is a striking set of wines from Robin Lail and her longtime winemaker Philippe Melka. The 2014 Cabernets are among the highlights. Those wines capture all the intensity that is typical here, but with less of the overripe quality of some past years. (AG)" (10/2016) [Kavalan "Amontillado" Cask Strength Single Barrel Taiwanese Single Malt Whisky (750ml)]( - 12 available ($599.99) [2009 La Conseillante, Pomerol 6-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)]( - 4 available ($1,299.00) 97 points James Suckling: "Blackberries, violets and licorice, with hints of lavender. Full body, with phenomenal texture of ultra-fine tannins and subtle and intriguing fruit character. Goes on for minutes. Try in 2020." (02/2012) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The competition between the 2009, 2005 and 2000 La Conseillante will be interesting to follow over the next twenty years. There was more of a selection process at this estate in 2009 than there was in 2000, resulting in a beautiful Pomerol offering notes of mulberries, sweet cherries, spring flowers, raspberries and truffles. The color is a healthy deep plum/ruby/purple and the wine is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, a broad, layered mouthfeel and wonderful freshness as well as length. This gorgeous, complex, Burgundian-styled Pomerol will be drinkable in 4-6 years and should keep for 30-40. (The 1970 is still alive and that was not nearly as well made as the 2009.)" (02/2012) 96 points Wine Spectator: "This delivers stunning toasted spice, mocha and black tea aromas, while the core of plum, blackberry and fig flavors is still rather reticent. The long finish is liberally laced with a racy graphite note, while the perfumy accent pervades. This will be a suave head-turner when it rounds into form. Best from 2018 through 2030." [2010 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe 6-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)]( - 4 available ($1,450.00) 98 points James Suckling: "Theres clarity and beauty to this wine as always with pure dark berry, stones and spices. Some clove too. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a long finish. Pure and precise wine with so much class. Try in 2020." (10/2015) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 is a more structured, restrained, less flamboyant version of the 2009. A final blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that hit 14.5% natural alcohol, this wine (which represents only 55% of the estate's production) is full-bodied, classic and built along the lines of the 2000 (although that wine was made before Reybier acquired the estate and upgraded quality significantly). This wine exhibits beautifully pure notes of creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, pen ink, graphite and hints of toast and vanillin. The wine is full and rich, and although aged in 80% new oak, the wood is a subtle background component. This beauty will take longer to round into shape than the dramatic and compelling 2009. Forget it for 5-8 years, and drink it over the following three-plus decades. 97+ (RP)" (02/2013) 93-96 points Vinous: "Captivating, intense aromas of dark berries, red cherry, mint and tobacco. Dense, sweet and fruity in the mouth if still a bit youthfully tight, with great purity to the flavors of red and dark berries, exotic herbs and licorice. Finishes smooth and extremely long, with wonderfully silky tannins. This very big wine will need plenty of time, but I have no doubt this will be remembered as a great Cos. (ID)" (05/2011) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a complex and rich wine dominated by superripe fruit. It is a wine of extremes, of fruit, of dark tannins allied to some bitterness from the black chocolate extract. Ripe plums and sweet black fruits are given a lift at the end with bright acidity." (03/2013) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is 6 bottles in its Original Wooden Case (OWC), sold only as a 6-bottle case to protect ideal provenance. [Macallan 25 Year Old "Distillery Bottling" Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)]( [Macallan 25 Year Old "Distillery Bottling" Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)]( - 3 available ($1,699.99) Wine Spectator: "An intense candy treat of a whisky that announces itself with rose petal, honey and hard candy on the nose. On the palate this cycles through a number of candied notes-fruity for the most part, with cherry character, but including butterscotch and a slight pine forest flavor. The long finish serves as another tour of the palate, with a nutty element. Sherry casks." (02/2011) [2005 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe 12-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)]( - 2 available ($2,850.00) 99 points James Suckling: "The purity of fruit in this is fascinating with plums, currants and other dark fruits. Then there is another layer of spices and chocolate. So much cassis. Full and very layered with chewy polished tannins and a long, long finish. Just starting to open. Changes all the time. Still needs a year or two but gorgeous to drink already." (10/2015) 98 points Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles and Top 100 Wines of 2008* Black in color, with aromas of orange peel, new leather, currant, berry and Christmas pudding. Full-bodied, with layers of velvety tannins and a long, long finish of fruit and spices. The cashmere texture is all there. 2003 plus 2000 equals 2005." (03/2008) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cos dEstournel is another great success from this property, which is owned by Michel Reybier. A superstar of St.-Estèphe in this vintage, this wine has a dense ruby/purple color, beautiful, sweet cassis and blackcurrant fruit, some floral notes, spice and a touch of oak in a full-bodied, layered, impressive multi-dimensional style. The tannins are surprisingly sweet and well-integrated, as is the acidity, alcohol and wood. This is a beauty and certainly the top wine of St.-Estèphe. Drink it over the next 25+ years. (RP)" (06/2015) 97 points Vinous: "I have been fortunate to taste the 2005 Cos d'Estournel three times in recent weeks and it has never been anything less than stunningly beautiful, as it is once again on this night. The interplay of dark, ripe fruit and the more mineral, savory-inflected nuances typical of Saint-Estèphe yield a compelling, wonderfully complete Bordeaux that simply has it all. An exotic mélange of graphite, gravel, smoke, cured meats and dark-fleshed fruits flow through to the explosive finish. Riveting today, the 2005 Cos will continue to thrill those fortunate enough to own it for several decades. Given its price vis-à -vis many of the high-flying wines of the year, the 2005 Cos remains a terrific relative value in its class. [1995 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L) 6-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)]( - 2 available ($3,295.00) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What sumptuous pleasures await those who purchase either the 1996 or 1995 Pichon Lalande. It is hard to choose a favorite, although the 1995 is a smoother, more immediately sexy and accessible wine. It is an exquisite example of Pichon-Lalande with the Merlot component giving the wine a coffee/chocolatey/cherry component to go along with the Cabernet Sauvignon's and Cabernet Franc's complex blackberry/cassis fruit. The wine possesses an opaque black/ruby/purple color, and sexy, flamboyant aromatics of pain grille, black fruits, and cedar. Exquisite on the palate, this full-bodied, layered, multidimensional wine should prove to be one of the vintage's most extraordinary success stories. [1996 Pichon Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L) 6-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)]( - 2 available ($3,495.00) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Pichon-Lalande has long been one of the high points of this Pauillac estate and now at 20 years of age it is firing on all cylinders. You cannot have any complaints against the nose: intense blackberry, cedar and graphite, all beautifully delineated, demand your attention. The palate offers exquisite balance, refined and yet intense, the Cabernet Sauvignon clearly in the driving seat but assisted by the Merlot that imparts the crucial fleshy texture on the finish. Red berry fruit, cigar box, mint, juniper berries ... this is a complex and riveting Pauillac wine that is going to cruise along its drinking plateau for many years. This is outstanding. Tasted July 2016. (NM)." (10/2016) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is 6 bottles in its Original Wooden Case (OWC), sold only as a 6-bottle case to protect ideal provenance. [2009 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe 12-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)]( - 2 available ($4,200.00) 100 points James Suckling: "This is amazing as always with layers of fruit and firm, velvety tannins. Full body, incredible depth of fruit and length. Currants, raspberries and Indian spices. It goes on for minutes. A monumental Cos. Greatest ever from here. Better in five years, but amazing." (11/2015) 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted, the monumental 2009 Cos d'Estournel has lived up to its pre-bottling potential. A remarkable effort from winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot (33%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It boasts an inky/black/purple color along with an extraordinary bouquet of white flowers interwoven with blackberry and blueberry liqueur, incense, charcoal and graphite. The wine hits the palate with extraordinary purity, balance and intensity as well as perfect equilibrium, and a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. An iconic wine as well as a remarkable achievement, it is the greatest Cos d'Estournel ever produced. It is approachable enough at present that one could appreciate it with several hours of decanting, but it will not hit its prime for a decade, and should age effortlessly for a half century.
