Our Newest Acquisitions and Returning Favorites, All In One Place... Tuesday Aug 17th, 2021 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( Whether it is a new allocation or an old favorite, below you will find our most recent additions to the diverse selection at K&L Wine Merchants. We receive new opportunities weekly, from direct imports to local distributors to carefully inspected back-vintage collections—read on for the best of this week's discoveries. Here is a look at our full list of [New Arrivals](. Here is our full list of items that are [Back in Stock](. Here you can browse [all our recent additions on the website](. [Donnhoff] --------------------------------------------------------------- A new shipment from the Rhône has just arrived in stock, containing a bevy of Châteauneuf-du-Pape bottlings that will please fans of the region. We have an extraordinary range of vintages available, thanks in large part to Rhône maverick Xavier Vignon. Through his deep ties in the region, he is able to source back-vintage gems, like the 1972, 2000, and 2001 Châteauneuf-du-Papes you’ll see below. But don’t sleep on recent modern-classic vintages—the 2019 Domaine Chante Cigale Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the 2017 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne "Les Trois Sources" Châteauneuf-du-Pape illustrate that this region’s future is as bright as its illustrious past. Early reports from the 2020 vintage in Germany are strong, making it one to watch for collectors. Enter the 2020 Donnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese Nahe and its 100-point score from James Suckling, who says “Hit me with a flower!” He goes on to praise its “concentrated yet totally filigree palate, which dazzles the senses with its thousand nuances and almost endless, super-silky finish” while also highlighting its “[d]ecades of aging potential.” A perfect wine for a sub-$60 price is just one indicator of the boundless quality this vintage in German Riesling has to offer. The 2009 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has recently been rereviewed by several publications, all of whom are in agreement that the potential of this wine is just starting to show. Decanter’s Jane Anson says it’s “[o]ne of the best Grand-Puy-Lacostes delivered under owner François-Xavier Borie...Still young at 11 years old, as you would hope from a classified Pauillac.” Neal Martin joins in the praise, writing in Vinous that “[t]he 2009 Grand Puy Lacoste is one of the great vintages from this estate in the modern era.” For the serious collector, this is also available in a 12-pack in its original wooden case. Our dedicated spirits buyers are always on the lookout for value in aged Scotch. One place to find significant savings is in the teaspooned whisky category. Teaspooning is a process where a tiny bit of another malt is added to a single malt cask. It doesn’t affect the character of the spirit at all, but it does, in a sense, declassify the Scotch, making it available for significantly less than what a single malt would sell for. That’s how you get a the 1997 Hector Macbeth (Glenfiddich) 23 Year Old "Hepburn's Choice" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Blended Malt Scotch Whisky at less than $130. Scotch with this age statement never sells for this kind of price, making this a savvy buy for the whisky collector.
