[Marietta "Old Vine Red Lot #65" California Red Blend]( ($11.99)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For many years I have been touting the old-vine red put together by Marietta cellars as one of the great values in all of winedom. I got to taste two of the old-vine reds, Lot 64 and Lot 65, and there is no reason to change my opinion. This is a blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and mixed Italian blacks. It usually hits about 13.5% alcohol, which is modest, and aged largely in neutral oak and stainless steel. Production is about 30,000 cases and, of course, they sell it like they are giving away free hotcakes it is so delicious. As for the NV Old Vine Red Lot 65, this was bottled right before I tasted it and again contains lots of Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah and other varieties such as Montepulciano and Barbera. This is delicious, concentrated and spicy with loads of roasted herbs, black cherry, briary berry fruit, pepper and meatiness. This medium-bodied, lusty wine was aged 60% in stainless steel and 40% in neutral oak. (RP)" (10/2016)
Wine Enthusiast: " *Best Buy* This great-value wine proves that a vintage date is not always needed for high-quality. Drenched with fruit flavor and nicely thick in texture, this full-bodied wine is not overly tannic, so it's easy to appreciate. It shows ripe black cherry and blackberry flavors, with smoky, meaty accents that come out on the second and third sips. (JG)" (03/2017)
[2010 La Rioja Alta "Viña Alberdi" Reserva Rioja]( [2010 La Rioja Alta "Viña Alberdi" Reserva Rioja]( ($17.99)
95 points James Suckling: "Ripe and intense aromas of strawberries and blackberries with hints of black ink. Savory notes, too. Full-bodied, chewy and focused with linear fruit and character. Very finely crafted. Drink or hold." (12/2016)
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Viña Alberdi is a Tempranillo blend from different vineyards from what they consider an extraordinary vintage. This wine is matured in American oak barrels built by their own coopers, the first year in new barrels and the second one in third-year barrels with four manual rackings. This is the younger of their wines, with even some red berry aromas and spicy oak, quite harmonious. The palate is lively, balanced and polished, with tasty flavors and bright acidity. Delicious. (AG)" (08/2016)

The most important fact to know about the 2010 Alberdi is that it needs to breath. The difference between this wine thirty seconds after opening the bottle and thirty minutes is night and day. I decanted this beauty and was absolutely spellbound once the initial intensity blew off and the fruit opened up underneath. This is classic Spanish food wine, full of dark berries and chewy tannins. It's not a big juicy garnacha by any means, but rather an old school Rioja with finesse and style. It has restraint and on the finish there are lingering notes of wood and dark berries. Cook up a steak or a rack of lamb and dump a bottle of this in the decanter for some mighty fine living!
Manekin]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: December 14, 2016
Upon first whiff, the 2010 Viña Alberdi is spicy, with the cedary oak notes nearly stealing the show. There are of course baking spices and pretty fruits as well, which both become more evident on the palate, where they combine with the oak for a nicely balanced, "bien clasico" expression of Rioja. This level of quality and traditional craftsmanship at under $18 makes this a must in your regular rotation!
[2014 Ferraton Père et Fils "La Source" St-Joseph (Pre-Arrival)]( ($19.99)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leading off the four 2014 St Joseph releases, the 2014 St Joseph La Source comes from a mix of terroirs (both the northern and southern regions of the appellation) and was brought up mostly in concrete. It has a juicy, lively, elegant style as well as lots of granite-induced notes of blackberries, damp earth and crushed rock. Drink this classy, well-made St Joseph over the coming 4-5 years. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines Ive tasted from this team. (JD)" (12/2016)
[2016 Bedrock Wine Company "Ode to Lulu" California Rosé]( ($20.99)
Morgan Twain-Peterson may be the most talented young winemaker in United States. How could he not be, growing up in vineyards beside his well-known father, winemaker Joel Peterson (Ravenswood). Morgan has done exceptionally well in the eyes of the press, and us here at K&L, with his label Bedrock. His wines are thoughtfully crafted small production bottlings from old vines located in âheritageâ vineyards throughout California. Hard to come by, these Bedrock wines already have a loyal and rabid following that just keeps growing year after year. We are lucky to secure one of Morganâs less talked-about wines in the Bedrock series, his lovely Mouvedre-dominated rosé. Here is a rosé that, in a recent vintage, was scored 91 points by Robert Parker â high marks for a crisp, quaffable rosé!
[2015 Ferraton Père et Fils "La Source" St-Joseph (Pre-Arrival)]( ($22.99)
92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another huge, sexy wine is the 2015 St Joseph La Source, which at this quality, sells for a song. Black raspberries, cassis, red currants, licorice and graphite all emerge from this full-bodied beauty that has sweet tannin and a stacked mid-palate. It will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and drink well for over a decade. Twenty-eight bucks? More please. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines Ive tasted from this team. (JD)" (12/2016)
[2015 Ferraton Père et Fils "Les Calendes" Crozes-Hermitage (Pre-Arrival)]( ($22.99)
92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better than the La Matiniere cuvée, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage Les Calendes (100% Syrah, destemmed and aged in concrete) offers lots of graphite and minerality, as well as full-bodied richness, a thick, unctuous texture, present tannin and a great finish. Again, the value here is about as good as it gets. At the moment, all of the Crozes Hermitage releases share a lot of similarities, but Im sure theyll show more singular characters with additional time in barrel. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines Ive tasted from this team. (JD)" (12/2016)
[2010 Cune Gran Reserva Rioja]( ($24.99)
94 points Wine Spectator: " *Top 100 of 2016, Highly Recommended* This generous red shows a traditional character, with leafy, dried herb, tea and spice notes framing dried cherry, licorice and leather flavors. Firm tannins and balsamic acidity impart structure, and this shows plenty of depth, with a juicy, spicy finish. Drink now through 2025. (TM)" (06/2016)
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cune Gran Reserva is a blend of 85% Tempranillo 10%, Graciano and 5% and Mazuelo, which matured in barrel for two years and in bottle for three. There is more American oak here with sweet spices, some roasted and tar aromas, with hints of leather and less finesse than in other Gran Reserva from the house; Viña Real, Imperial and Contino play in a different league. (LG)" (08/2016)
[2014 Argyle "Reserve" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (Elsewhere $40)]( ($28.99)
93 points Wine Spectator: "Firm and refined, with baby powderlike tannins around the raspberry, strawberry, peach skin and hibiscus notes. Comes together harmoniously on a sleek and transparent frame, finishing long. Best from 2018 through 2024. (HS)" (02/2017)
92 points James Suckling: "Aromas of strawberries, flowers and watermelon follow through to a medium to full body, fine tannins and a bright and fruity finish. A beauty" (11/2016)
[2014 Dassault, St-Emilion]( [2014 Dassault, St-Emilion]( ($31.99)
92 points James Suckling: "Dark fruits and dark tannins are the hallmark of this brooding beast. Either you like rather bold, dry tannins and this will excite you, or it wont! But I love it." (02/2017)
92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Dassault is bold, fruit-driven and absolutely delicious, although the firm tannins are going to need some time to soften. Plum, violet, licorice and lavender are some of the signatures in this inky, extroverted Saint-Ãmilion. In 2014, Dassault is a sleeper. Tasted two times. (AG)" (02/2017)
92 points Wine Spectator: "Well-fruited, with fig, blackberry and boysenberry confiture flavors, showing a touch more purity and polish and a bit less of the typical bramble and gutsy toast. A bolt of graphite and sweet tobacco scores the finish. Best from 2020 through 2030. (JM)" (03/2017)
[Writer's Tears Pure Pot Still Irish Whiskey (750ml)]( [Writer's Tears Pure Pot Still Irish Whiskey (750ml)]( ($39.99)
Whisky Advocate: "Like the Writers Tears reviewed in this issue, this is from an independent company linked to renowned whiskey maker Bernard Walsh. It is described as of a style popular in James Joyce's Dublin (hence the name). Grain whiskey was a no-no at that time, so this uses no grain and is a mix of malt and pot still whiskeys. For its price and strength it is amazing a big-hearted and full-flavored whiskey with an oily, apple-y pot still heart and cinnamon, nutmeg, and pepper spices. (DS, Summer 2012)"
K&L Notes: The elusive Writer's Tears Pot Still Irish Whiskey has been a darling of the whiskey cognoscenti for years. This unusual product from the Walsh Distillery in Carlow, Ireland has gained notoriety across the globe as one of the finest whiskies the Emerald Isle has to offer. It begins with single malt (likely distilled at Cooley Distillery in Louth) and single pot still whiskey (distilled at Midleton in County Cork), which are vatted together and aged in ex-bourbon casks. A true re-creation of a style of Irish whiskey not seen since the last century and named for the great Irish writers and playwrights of the 19th century who would have sought inspiration from a similar beverage in their time. The full-flavored, pure pot still whiskey and sweet floral single malt work magic together to create one of the most drinkable yet exciting whiskies of any kind. Lauded world-wide as one of the best whiskies available, it has been conspicuously unavailable in California until now. Winner of Gold Medals from the World Whiskies Award and listed on Ian Buxton's 101 Whiskies to Try before You Die, and 93 points from Jim Murray's "Whisky Bible", Writer's Tears is easily one of the highest ranking Irish Whiskey available at any price point. We've been lucky enough to grab an exclusive deal on the first few pallets to show up in CA, but don't wait to try it as when it moves to normal distribution we'll likely see a significant price increase.

This should please people who are looking for an easy, soft and delicious whiskey. At first one smells beautiful and mouth watering vanilla aromas. In the mouth it is soft and easy with a creamy mouth feel. This is a fun whiskey to have for simple enjoyment.

This elusive and quite wonderful little whiskey has been on constant request at the story for years. Actually, I've been telling people "No, sorry we can't get that" every other week of so for over 7 years now! It's one of those things that people fall in love with over there and don't realize they can't just pick it up when they get home. Well, the wait is finally over. This wonderful offering from the exceptional Walsh Distillery in County Carlow is easily one of the best values in Irish Whiskey. Hailing from Ireland's historic east, this area is famous for whiskey and beer thanks to the incredible waters that bubble below the surface, but no large distillery has had a presence here for more than 100 years. In the 1800s, the Irish Whiskey industry was on fire. Consumption, production and exports, continued to break records despite social and political upheaval in Ireland. Funny thing about Irish Whiskey, because of the unique process of blending malted and un-malted barley and distilling in pot-stills, it was actually considered the top quality whiskey in the world pre-prohibition. That's because then, and now, the majority of people didn't want stinky peaty malty single malt from Scotland, but instead were looking for a whiskey that's rich, smooth and easy to drink. Irish Whiskey was the best choice for most consumers before the controversial introduction of grian (column still) production in the 1830s. When this low cost and l
[2015 Ferraton Père et Fils "L'Eglantine" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)]( ($54.99)
94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The team at Ferraton makes two Côte Rôties, both of which are brilliant examples of the quality now coming from this estate. The slightly larger production cuvée is the 2015 Côte Rôtie lEglantine, which comes from schist soils and is aged in older barrels. It offers a perfumed, Asian spice, dried flower, graphite, and red and black fruit-driven bouquet, as well as full-bodied richness and ultra-fine tannin. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines Ive tasted from this team. (JD)" (12/2016)
[2015 Ferraton Père et Fils "Les Miaux" Hermitage (Pre-Arrival)]( ($54.99)
93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Notes of powdered rocks, graphite, caramelized meats and both cassis and black raspberry emerge from the 2015 Hermitage Les Miaux. This rich, low-acid, chewy, downright decadent Hermitage is another huge success from this estate. Its going to need a few years of bottle age, yet I suspect the sweetness of fruit will allow it to drink nicely relatively early in its life. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines Ive tasted from this team. (JD)" (12/2016)
[2015 Ferraton Père et Fils "Lieu Dit Montmain" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)]( ($59.99)
94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The team at Ferraton makes two Côte Rôties, both of which are brilliant examples of the quality now coming from this estate. Slightly more expensive than the lEglantine, the 2015 Côte Rôtie Lieu Dit Montmain (100% Syrah aged in 15% new French oak) is also full-bodied and impressively concentrated, with notes of acacia flowers, toasted spices, black raspberries and brioche. It has fabulous tannin quality, no hard edges and a big finish, all suggesting it will have a long life. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines Ive tasted from this team. (JD)" (12/2016)
[2010 Gloria, St-Julien]( [2010 Gloria, St-Julien]( ($59.99)
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Gloria is an ass-kicking, fabulous value once again from this estate, which would probably be classified if the 1855 hierarchy of the wines of the Medoc were ever done again. Abundant notes of cedar wood, fruitcake, flowers, creme de cassis and kirsch are all present in this full-bodied, opulent, dense, dark ruby/purple wine. It is slightly more restrained than the flamboyant 2009, but equal in quality. This is a juicy, well-proportioned, sensationally concentrated, super-ripe Gloria to drink over the next decades. Of course, it is a sleeper of the vintage, given the reasonable price it normally sells for. (RP)" (02/2013)

Our favorite Gloria in many years. And the price is better than ever.
[2015 La Ferme du Mont "Côtes Capelan" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)]( ($59.99)
94-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better than the Vendange cuvee, and I suspect one of the wines of the vintage, Stephanes 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Côtes Capelan is the top wine of the estate and is made from 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, raised 70% in concrete and 30% in barrels. Theres under 500 cases of this beauty and it reveals a deep purple color as well as decadent notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed rocks and melted licorice. Full-bodied, thick, unctuous and massively concentrated, with ripe tannin and a killer finish, dont miss it! If you havent figured it out yet, Stephane Vedeaus La Ferme du Mont is one of the up and coming superstars of the Southern Rhône. Moreover, dont miss his Côtes du Rhône releases, or his Clos Bellane releases, for that matterboth of which fly under the radar. (JD)" (10/2016)
[2005 Roger Sabon "Prestige" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)]( ($59.99)
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and the rest a mix of permitted varieties, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Prestige is a blockbuster that competes with the top wines in the vintage! Loaded with notes of ripe blackberry-like fruit, roasted meats, olive tapenade and truffle, this puppy hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin, and a seamless, downright sexy texture that keeps you coming back for another drink. Gorgeous now, enjoy it anytime over the coming decade or more. (JD)" (02/2016)
94 points Wine Spectator: "Very silky and focused, with a beam of dark fig and plum fruit layered with cocoa, spice and mineral notes. Seems forward at first glance, but there's solid grip that should help this age nicely and allow the extra incense and black tea notes to develop fully. Drink now through 2025. (JM)" (11/2007)
92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Explosively perfumed aromas of vivid, mineral-dominated redcurrant, strawberry and tangy blood orange; smells like Burgundy. Tangy red fruit flavors offer impressive clarity and flavor impact, with no excess weight. Fresh, precise and persistent on the strikingly sweet, clinging finish. (JR)" (01/2008)
[2007 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)]( ($79.99)
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Vieux Telegraphe may be the greatest wine made at this property since the 2005 and 1998. Dense ruby/purple-tinged with an exquisite nose of salty sea breezes, licorice, ground pepper, jammy black cherries, black currants, figs, and plums, this is a full-bodied, rich, Provencal-styled offering with lots of sweet, ripe tannin. It is surprisingly accessible for a Vieux Telegraphe (this wine normally shuts down several years after bottling), but it should have great longevity (25+ years) given its power, full-bodied mouthfeel, and enormous length and richness. This is a brilliant effort from brothers Frederic and Daniel Brunier. (RP)" (10/2009)
95 points Wine Spectator: " *Highly Recommended, Ranked #3 in Top 100 Wines of 2009* Packed, in a brawny, muscular style atypical for this lush vintage, with a gravelly undertow to the currant paste, braised fig and dark licorice notes. Picks up even more steam on the finish, with grilled mesquite, mineral and garrigue notes and a long, hot stone-filled finish. (JM)" (12/2009)
93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Glass-staining ruby. Highly pungent bouquet offers black fruit compote, olive and floral qualities, along with a slightly high-toned quality that recedes with air. The palate-coating, deeply concentrated cassis and blackberry flavors display a slow-mounting spiciness. Pretty powerful for a wine from this estate, showing more heft and dark fruit character than usual. The finish is broad, velvety and impressively persistent. Long-time fans of this property's usually elegant style might not be over the moon for this wine's virility. (JR)" (01/2010)
[2010 Serafin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Corbeaux" (Pre-Arrival)]( ($89.99)
91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Musky but reticent aromas of black cherry and red berries. Sappy, juicy and very firm, with an impression of strong acidity keeping the red fruit flavors under wraps today. Powerfully structured wine with a bit of finishing toughness. This seemed to close up in the glass. (ST)" (04/2013)
88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux is rather exuberant in its up-front fruit, but that first impression dissipates a bit as the wine finds its sense of classicism with time in the glass. The Corbeaux possesses gorgeous mid-palate pliancy with an underpinning of firm tannin that will allow it to age gracefully for a number of years. (AG)" (02/2012)
[2010 Serafin Morey-St.-Denis 1er Cru "Les Millandes" (Pre-Arrival)]( ($89.99)
91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Morey St. Denis Les Millandes is a big, broad-shouldered wine graced with tremendous depth in its fruit. Dark cherries, menthol, spices and new leather are some of the many notes that are woven into the fabric of this beautifully balanced wine. Firm tannins support the fruit all the way through to the virile, intense finish. This is a great showing. (AG)" (03/2012)
92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright medium red. Complex soil-driven perfume of spicy red berries, flowers, minerals and earth. A broad, supple, slightly exotic fruit bomb in the mouth, with noteworthy intensity to its red cherry and raspberry flavors. This deceptively accessible wine finishes with a firm tannic spine. (ST)" (03/2013)

97 points James Suckling: " *#23 in Top 100 Reds Of Napa Valley 2016* Impressive aromas of blueberry and lavender with hints of rosemary. Full to medium body, solid core of fruit and a gorgeous finish. Compacted and refined. Better in 2019 but already fantastic. Best wine ever from here?" (11/2016)
94 points Vinous: "A dark, brooding wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch offers up a compelling mix of iron, smoke, black cherry, plum, licorice and new leather, all supported by a firm spine of tannin. Sumptuous yet also quite tannic and in need of time, the State Ranch is another compelling wine from Nickel & Nickel. Stylistically, it is a bit more virile and imposing than some of the other wines, but every bit as attractive. 94+ (AG)" (09/2015)
[2010 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino]( [2010 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino]( ($118.95)
99 points James Suckling: "Absolutely stunning aromas of nectarine, orange peel, sweet black cherry, plums and flowers. Licorice and mushroom It's full body, with layers of ultra-fine tannins and hints of tangy acidity. Such beautiful length and beauty to this wine. It's powerful and structured yet shows a gorgeous finesse and length. Truly wondrous. So long and refined. The texture is phenomenal." (12/2014)
96 points Wine Spectator: " *Collectible* Effusive aromas of incense, green olive, sweet strawberry and cherry, licorice and leather mark this structured version. The tannins are on the beefy side, but this finishes long, with enough fruit and spice for balance. Best from 2018 through 2032. (BS)" (04/2015)
94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the very best wines I have tasted here in recent years. Dark red cherries, mint, game, smoke, tobacco and licorice are all deeply expressive in a mid-weight, very classic feeling Brunello long on class and personality. Big yet silky tannins frame the dramatic, intense finish. The Valdicava wines are always big, but the 2010 is a bit pulled back, and striking. (AG)" (02/2015)
[2014 Plumpjack "Estate" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon]( ($119.99)
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, is a beauty. Bigger-boned and framed than many 2014s, with more structure, this is classic Oakville material, with an opaque purple color and a big, sweet kiss of graphite, blackcurrants, Christmas fruitcake and spice box. Full-bodied and opulent, with moderate tannin, this is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next 20 or more years. This famed estate on the Oakville crossroads, which was once the Villa Mt. Eden winery, where Nils Venge made a succession of profound wines in the 1970s, is now owned by the Getty family and called Plumpjack. These are always among my favorite wines in Napa Valley, as they are consistently well-crafted and represent the best of the Oakville corridor. (RP)" (12/2016)
94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is another super-appealing wine. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, new leather and licorice wrap around the palate. Succulent, layered and juicy, the 2014 captures all of the appeal of this Oakville site, albeit in the more restrained style that is typical of the year.Aaron Miller has done a terrific job in coaxing the best out of the 2014 and 2015 vintages. The 2014s are every bit as impressive as they were from barrel, with notable aromatic presence and nuance. A much more flamboyant style emerges from the 2015s, wines that capture all of the opulence of the year. As always, the Merlot and Syrah are made from purchased fruit, while the two Cabernets are both estate wines. The flagship Reserve typically emerges from the front blocks on the estate closest to the Silverado Trail. (AG)" (10/2016)
[2013 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon]( [2013 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon]( ($149.99)
98 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a towering majestic wine. Rich, powerful and yet massively tannic, the 2013 possesses a stunning combination of super-ripe fruit, bright acids and plenty of supporting structure. In the early going, the Howell Mountain is a bit reticent, especially next to the Trailer, but after several hours, the vibrancy of the Howell Mountain bottling dazzles. Dunn's Howell Mountain Cabernet is without question one of the wines of the great 2013 vintage.Randy and Mike Dunn's 2013s are off the charts. The Napa Valley Cabernet will give readers a good idea of the vintage, while the two Howell Mountain wines are even more intense. In 2013, the Dunns bottled their Trailer Cabernet alone for the second time (the first was 2012) before redeveloping the vineyard. The Trailer is made in a riper style than the flagship Howell Mountain Cabernet, with more oak influence as well. At the outset, it is more immediate than the Howell Mountain, but as I followed the wines over hours and then days, the Howell showed more energy and overall intensity. 98+ (AG)" (09/2016)
95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain boasts an opaque color, abundant notes of blackberries, spring flowers and blueberries, fabulous richness and a distinctive, singular smell of pen ink. With great intensity, formidable body, sweet tannin and a long finish, it should drink well for 25+ years. This is a strong line-up from this producer, one of the first (1979) to exploit the Howell Mountain terroir. The current releases include the 2010s. The barrel samples of the 2012s appear to be the strongest efforts Dunn Vineyards has made since the early 1990s. (RP)" (10/2014)
[2005 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac]( [2005 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac]( ($209.99)
96 points James Suckling: "A meaty and decadent Lynch with very ripe currant aromas on the nose. Full body, velvety-textured tannins and a powerful finish. It shows so much structure and fruit yet remains polished and focused. Lovely now to drink but better in 2017." (10/2015)
96 points Wine & Spirits: "There's a relaxed feel to this wine. Cazes's team can dress Lynch-Bages in the black-tie formality of a first growth, but the wine is still lovely-a touch of gaminess makes it friendly rather than ponderous. There's something ethereal about its tannins, like a chocolate truffle melting in the mouth. (Daniel Llose used 80 percent new oak for this vintage; the yields were short so there were more new barrels to go around, and at a tannic index of 82, the wine could handle it). Pure black cherry flavor saturates the wine with freshness; the complexity is intriguing and silken rather than aggressive. This should be readily accessible at ten to 20 years of age and should thrive for years after." (10/2008)
96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Classic Lynch-Bages with just a bit of extra power and richness. While the tannins are structured, it is the velvety fruit that rolls around the mouth that is the most dominant character. It is coming together into a wine that will be big and dense, but never over the top. (RV)" (06/2008)

Fabulous wine. I have a case in my cellar. Will cellar well for many, many years. Cedar and pencil shaving aromas with cassis flavors. The finish lasts a minute.
[2015 Domaine d'Eugénie Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)]( ($249.99)
94-96 points Vinous: "Healthy bright, dark red. Knockout nose offers scents of kirsch and maraschino cherry, minerals, spices and white pepper. Tactile, chewy wine with an outstanding combination of sweetness, mineral verve and definition. Really bulletproof fruit here. Finishes very long and penetrating, with incredible energy and lift to its anise and spicecake flavors. These 2015s are wonderfully fresh and transparent to terroir. (ST)" (01/2017)
93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a perfumed bouquet with dark cherry fruit, blackcurrant and briary tinged with fine mineralité - hints of cold stone percolating through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, good depth of fruit and crucially a keen line of acidity that maintains the tension. There is a subtle spicy, almost white pepper element to this Clos Vougeot that becomes more accentuated as it gently fans out on the finish. This is a very impressive Clos de Vougeot. (NM)" (12/2016)
[2009 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)]( ($249.99)
95 points Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas and flavors of sandalwood, rose, strawberry and raspberry are married to an elegant, lacy frame. Intense, yet light-weight, with fine complexity and a long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2015 through 2035. (BS)" (06/2012)
94 points Vinous: "The 2009 Clos des Lambrays is ripe, radiant and totally representative of the vintage. Silky tannins frame an expressive core of fruit in this generous, open Clos des Lambrays. The 2009 possesses striking depth and tons of richness allied to a muscular personality. I underestimated the 2009 when I tasted it from barrel. Although very much in the flashy style of the year, the 2009 also has more than enough structure to support mid-term aging at the very least. A round, caressing finish leaves a lasting impression. (AG)" (04/2012)
93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An intensely floral and spicy nose that is wonderfully elegant and admirably pure speaks of red currant, blue berry, game, smoke and warm earth. The silky-textured, precise and mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors possess copious extract that does a fine job of buffering the very firm tannins and allowing for perfect balance on the mouth coating and impressively persistent finish. A seductive and relatively accessible Clos des Lambrays that should be approachable with only a decade of cellar time yet last for 25 to 40 years." (01/2012)
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Clos des Lambrays continues to shine. The self-effacing Thierry Brouin has conjured an exquisite bouquet of wild strawberry, scorched earth, small red cherries and a touch of undergrowth. Brouins style is to keep everything contained, natural and unpretentious and so you get a comparatively conservative Clos des Lambrays that is underpinned by light, tensile tannins, with a veneer of red fruit, not great weight but rather weightlessness that is unusual for this vintage. It is in keeping with the domaines approach to Pinot Noir, one that I have learned to appreciate more and more with passing years. (NM)" (06/2013)
[2014 Lail "J. Daniel Cuvée" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon]( [2014 Lail "J. Daniel Cuvée" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon]( ($249.99)
95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The barrel sample of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvée (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the identical sources) exhibits beautiful, sweet tannin, loads of charcoal, a full-bodied flavor profile of blue and black fruits, softer tannins and a more open-knit, up-front appeal than the somewhat firm and more closed blockbuster 2013. In keeping with this vintage character, the wine is very showy, charming and should drink beautifully when released in a year or so, evolving gracefully for at least two decades. With a viticultural legacy dating back to the late 1800s and proprietress Robin Daniel Lails great grand-uncle Gustave Niebaum, the founder of Inglenook Vineyards, theres a lot of history in the Lail family. The wines continue on a very strong qualitative streak, with the less expensive Blueprint wines offering moderate value. Their top cuvées, the Georgia Sauvignon Blanc and J. Daniel Cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, are world-class quality. (RP)" (10/2015)
95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon John Daniel Cuvée turned out beautifully. In fact, it is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Deep, unctuous and powerful, but with good freshness, the 2014 hits all the right notes. Specifically, the 2014 offers tons of richness, but without the heaviness or raisinated character that has defined some previous years. This is a striking set of wines from Robin Lail and her longtime winemaker Philippe Melka. The 2014 Cabernets are among the highlights. Those wines capture all the intensity that is typical here, but with less of the overripe quality of some past years. (AG)" (10/2016)
