One-time pricing on a true California classic... Thursday Jun 3rd, 2021 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( Can’t-Miss, Winery-Direct Pricing on a Classic Library Vintage Pinot [2013 Joseph Swan "Trenton Estate" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (Elsewhere $70)]( ($34.95) “The 2013 Pinot Noir Trenton Estate is beautiful on all accounts...Readers looking for a complex, nuanced Pinot Noir will love this.” — Jeb Dunnuck --------------------------------------------------------------- We’ve just secured an amazing, winery-direct price on a single-vineyard, library vintage Pinot Noir from a true Russian River Valley pioneer. The Trenton Estate vineyard was among the first Pinot Noir sites planted in Russian River in the 1960s by the visionary Joseph Swan, and this historic block has served as a source for some of the region’s most highly praised and classically styled Pinot Noirs for at least four decades. Our most recent acquisition of the 2013 vintage comes straight from the winery at 50% off the MSRP, making this one of the most compelling library offers we’ll see all year. Domestic buyer Ryan Woodhouse calls it “an iconic wine” and applauds its seamless balance between the AVA’s signature sappy, concentrated fruit profile and the abundant savory qualities “that make Pinot Noir lovers weak at the knees.” It’s a stunning bottling that is in prime form right now but will undoubtedly continue to impress for many years to come. Fans of perfectly aged Pinot Noir will not want to miss this quintessential example at a stupendous, sub-$35 price. Sporting a slightly evolved yet still healthy ruby color, it gives up a smorgasbord of sassafras, mint, bay leaf, forest floor, and chocolate that gains depth and richness with time in the glass. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, elegant style that's a joy to drink, it will probably continue evolving gracefully for another decade, yet it's showing incredibly well today. Readers looking for a complex, nuanced Pinot Noir will love this." (05/2020) [ryanwoodhouse.gif]( Woodhouse]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: May 06, 2021 Joseph Swan's "Trenton Estate" bottling is an iconic wine. Much of this wine comes from the original late 1960s and early 1970s plantings of Pinot Noir on the estate. These vines are "Swan Selection," a collection of low yielding, heritage Pinot Noir vines, including a DRC suitcase clone, propagated by Joe Swan. The "newer" plantings on the estate are various Dijon clones replanted in 1996. The vines grow in the region's famed Goldridge clay-loam soils. The resulting wine is powerful and concentrated. Rich, ripe fruit with lots of black raspberry, dark cherry, loamy earth, mulling spices, and sandalwood. There's a signature sappiness and density to the Trenton Estate bottling that differentiates it from the producer's other wines. The magic of this wine is its somewhat unrivalled ability to combine the big, suave texture and fruit of Russian River with the wonderful savory, earthy, "sous bois" quality that makes Pinot Noir lovers weak at the knees! The 2013 Trenton Estate has this best-of-both-worlds quality in droves. It's in a prime spot for drinking, but experience suggests it's far from over the hill. Oh, and did I mention it's direct from the winery and 50% off?! [scottbeckerley.gif]( Beckerley]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: March 07, 2017 I love the fact that Joseph Swan, after all these years, still produces such textbook "Swan style" Pinot Noir. I have had vintages going back to the mid-80s, and these newer releases are no less interesting or unique. The Trenton is darker and deeper than is usual for Swan, and this offering has a deep, red fruit nose with cinnamon and spice box. On the palate, black cherry, cola, and more cinnamon. Great fruit and balance! Love it. --------------------------------------------------------------- [New Feed]( [Auction]( [Local]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [On the Trail (K&L Blog)]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [Instagram]( [Instagram]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [BORDEAUX]( | [NAPA]( | [BURGUNDY]( | [CHAMPAGNE]( | [ITALY]( | [RHÔNE]( | [SPIRITS]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [My Account]( | [Wine Clubs]( | [Events]( |[Gift Cards]( | [Accessories]( | [Delivery]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Missed an offer?
