We start with a Tuscan red blend that seriously over delivers. The 2017 Petra "Zingari" Toscana is a smoking value at $14.99. Double 93-point scores from James Suckling and Wine Spectator seal the deal, as this appealing red hits all the marks you’d want from an everyday drinker. Next up is a cellar-worthy Pinot Noir that’s in its prime drinking window. Trisaetum’s 2012 "Estates Reserve" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir garnered a pair of 94-point scores that place it in the top tier of Oregon wines. As Wine Enthusiast’s Paul Gregutt reports, “It's a full-bodied, New World style, but with a complex, layered finish that says Oregon rather than California.” The 2012 Chairman's Reserve "Master's Selection" St. Lucia Rum comes from a unique distillery that’s only on the radar of those in the know. They have an incredible wealth of rare and experimental stocks, and this single barrel offering is one of those. With depth and complexity in spades, this robust rum is a real tropical beauty. Expect a whole lot of quality for less than $60. And finally, for those in search of the best of Spain, with the 2016 Bodegas Muga "Aro" Rioja, you need look no further. This vintage achieved 100-point perfection from James Suckling, who says “I am speechless about this wine. It’s so deep and vertical with a stunning texture of super polished tannins and juicy acidity...Crazy wine.” This wine is accessible now with a good decant but will develop for decades in the cellar.
