What’s happening in the U.S. is that we’ve reached a moment when winemakers have been at this a while: they understand their specific terroir, they’ve honed their skills and no longer need to look to other regions or to critics’ pronouncements to guide their winemaking. The result is a range of wines that fully embody their place and show the deft touch of skilled craftspeople connected to their land. From the vibrant, focused Cabernets coming out of Napa’s excellent 2018 vintage to the seductively aromatic Pinots from Oregon’s Arterberry Maresh, these pages showcase wines that achieve a seamless blend of elegance and self-possession that can only be encapsulated by the word grace. And, because we, too, have been in the biz a while and have developed long-standing relationships, we can bring many of these bottles to you at uniquely gracious prices. Take a stroll through the wine country of our own backyard and see what these amazing folks have been up to! 2018 Napa Cabernet As Antonio Galloni says, “it is very hard to go wrong with a bottle of Napa Valley Cabernet” from 2018 because of the consistency and that “so many 2018s are simply mind-blowing.” A great example is Di Costanzo's "DI CO" that Galloni called "outrageously beautiful," coming in at very modest pricing for a collectible of this caliber. Same can be said for Hourglass' "impressive" "Blueline Estate." For those looking for a not-to-be-missed value, Grand Napa's "Reserve" delivers the goods at our one-time pricing. And for a reference-point collectible, it doesn't get much better than TOR's triple 98-point "Vine Hill Ranch" 2018. Vintage Item Name Score Retail Link 2018 Gibbs "Three Clones" St. Helena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 94 $29.95 [View]( 2018 Grand Napa "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $100+) 94 $39.99 [View]( 2018 Di Costanzo "DI CO" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 95 $64.95 [View]( 2018 Schrader "Double Diamond" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 95 $74.95 [View]( 2018 Hourglass "Blueline Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 96 $119.95 [View]( 2018 Turnbull "Black Label" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 98 $149.95 [View]( 2018 TOR "Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 98 $224.95 [View]( Savvy Sub-$20 Value Selections from the West Coast Value is the name of the game at K&L, and these selections show that Domestic wines still deliver some of the most thrilling examples that don't require spending a ton. If it's Napa Cabernet you're looking for, don't miss out on our best-selling Silenus "Tyros" Cabernet that's been a go-to for us and would still impress even at the original $35 pricing. We also have one-time pricing up to 50% off on wines from Agharta, Calera, and Avennia. Pinot fans will find a stunning secret label in Signal Ridge that captures the magic of one of California's finest producers at a fraction of the price. This is exemplified in Birichino's 110-year-old "Besson Vineyard" and the superlative 2018 Grenache. The same can be said for the stunning values produced by Arterberry Maresh, wines that rival the elegance and depth of cru Burgundy and do so at remarkable prices. And perhaps the wine world's quintessential value, Ridge Vineyards' 2018 "Lytton Springs" notched V96 and WA96 scores, basically unheard of for its $35 retail. Such is the case with Bien Nacido's rare "XO" Syrah from a revered block of their namesake vineyard. Andrew Will's WA97 "Champoux" is a rival for classified growth Bordeaux and shows the refinement that Washington State can achieve. But for many, it doesn't get better than Napa Cabernet, and with names like Larkmead, Dunn, Spottswoode, and Dominus, you know you are getting the best of the best.
