Featuring Opus One, Brewer-Clifton, Lynmar, Tensley, and many more... Monday Feb 17th, 2020 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( [February Newsletter]( said it before, but it bears repeating, this is the most exciting time in the history of American winemaking. Never before has the consumer been graced with an impressive range of wines and styles. This remarkable diversity was on full display when our SoCal Domestic Buyer, Kaj Stromer, visited Oregon’s Willamette Valley earlier this year. Kaj had the opportunity to taste over 250 wines from this dynamic region, an experience that further bolstered his belief that “[o]ne of the most impressive ‘coming-of-age’ stories in wine is the ascension of Oregon to a position of prominence among the world’s wine-producing regions. Oregon now stands as an equal to some of the best of them.” So, not only is Oregon blessed with more labels than ever, but the quality is best it’s been. Kaj’s account of this week-long trek is the perfect primer into this up-and-coming region. Oregon is only part of the story in [this month’s newsletter]( however, as we also explore some of our favorite producers working in California. Stefanie Juelsgaard provides the history behind one of Dry Creek’s oldest and most respected producers: Nalle. If you haven’t experienced the old vine Zins and Cabs from this famed estate, then an amazing treat awaits you. Domestic Buyer, Ryan Woodhouse, leads this newsletter off with a discussion of arguably the finest winegrowing site in the Central Coast: Bien Nacido Vineyard. An American “Grand Cru” by any measure, the wines from this prized site compete with the world’s finest while offering outstanding value. It’d be impossible to capture the full depth and breadth of American winemaking, but it is our hope these pages offer a glimpse into this world-class region.
