Top values, epic collectibles, smart buys, and the best of Germany, Austria, and Alsace... Monday Sep 30th, 2019 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( [This month's newsletter]( takes us to several of the oldest wine-producing regions in Europe—and also some of the most overlooked. Alsace, Germany, and Austria all have long winemaking histories, but interest in their wines has waned over the last several decades. However, with young, dynamic vignerons lining up to make their mark, the quality out of these regions is at an all-time high, and this is the perfect time to familiarize yourself with their wines. Buyer Alex Pross has highlighted a selection of in-stock offerings that will show you the true variety and selection on offer here. Starting in Germany, we have an excellent example of the combination of old and new. Weingut Max Ferd. Richter was founded in the Mosel over 300 years ago, but they aren't stuck in the past. Ninth generation winemaker Dirk and his son Constantin have taken advantage of a string of good vintages to craft wines that are as good as we have ever seen from them, and the new-in-stock 2018 vintage proves that handily. Up next, we travel to Austria with a collection of whites, which you might expect, but also several recommendations for the country's red wines, which are not as well known. You don't want to overlook these, as Alex points out that something of a "red wine revolution" has taken place in Austria. Finally we stop in Alsace, an often forgotten French region that deserves your attention, especially the wines of Pierre Sparr, another storied winery that is embracing its past along with its future. As always, we invite you to read our newsletter to find out about all these hidden gems of Alsace, Germany, and Austria.
