American-inspired treats for the 4th of July. [logo]( Sunday Recipe Inspiration Batch 397 [American Flag Pie]( Happy Fourth of July, everyone. There's a lot wrapped up in this national holiday of ours, and I hope we all take some time to reflect on that this year. I also hope we all take some time to bake. It's a pleasure and a privilege to do so, and a special way that we can connect to each other as fellow Americans. If for you, today is about showing your patriotism, how about baking an [American Flag Pie]( (above)? There's something for both blueberry pie and strawberry-rhubarb pie fans in this one dessert, so you 'll surely find volunteers to help you polish it off before nightfall. And if that's the case, you might need something to enjoy with fireworks. For that, I recommend these [Red, White, and Blue Blondies](. They'll travel well and can be paired with ice cream, whipped cream, or even more berries for show-stopping effects. Today could also be about celebrating some of the notable baked goods from around the country. I'm definitely on board with that, especially when a [Mississippi Mud Cake]( or a [Boston Cream Pie]( could be in the running. Both feel like exactly the right amount of indulgence for a day about independence. Of course, baking a classic American dessert could be another great way to make a mark on today. I myself will be turning to strawberry shortcake and these [Self-Rising Cream Biscuits](. The biscuits are my go-to in the summer for shortcakes of every kind. They're so easy to pull together that there's really no good excuse not to make them. Will you join me, or do you have your own dessert plans brewing? Either way, the future holds promise (for dessert and independence). Let's work towards it together.
