Desserts perfect for dads, father figures, or really just everyone. Sunday Recipe Inspiration Batch

Desserts perfect for dads, father figures, or really just everyone. [logo]( Sunday Recipe Inspiration Batch 395 [Pineapple Tarts with Ginger-Miso Filling]( Today is your day, dads and father figures! What you choose to do with it is up to you (though perhaps with input from several others), and I hope that means you'll do something you love. If that includes getting into the kitchen to bake, here's my gift to you: a handful of alluringly salty desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth — no matter how fierce or tame it might be. There are many ways to elevate the salty flavor in desserts (apart from simply adding more salt). Let's take miso as our first example. This traditional Japanese seasoning — a fermented paste most commonly made with soybeans and a mold known as koji — packs a salty punch (in addition to a myriad of other flavors). It's a well-loved ingredient these days, not just in cooking but in baking too, and these [Pineapple Tarts with Ginger-Miso Filling]( prove why. There's a lot to love about these hand-holdable tarts, so if your preference is for sweet and salty desserts, they should definitely be on your list! If miso is not a staple ingredient for you though, you may have other salty options lurking in your refrigerator or pantry. Bacon, potato chips, and pretzels are delicious on their own, sure, but just wait until you try them in these [Truly Decadent Bacon Brownies](, these [Potato Chip Cookies](, and this [Key Lime Pie with a Pretzel Crust](. Each recipe yields a very different dessert, but they all share a tantalizing kick of salt. Last but most certainly not least is my favorite of the salted desserts: salted caramel. I could probably eat the stuff by the spoonful, but since the summer solstice is officially now, I'll offer you this [Salted Caramel Ice Cream]( recipe instead. The custard base is made with whole eggs vs. just the yolks, making for a softer-set ice cream that is somehow both light and rich. Is it irresistible? Well, I'll let reviewer BonnieG speak to that: "Do not, I repeat, do not make this if you are home alone. You will end up eating way too much of it." And I think that's a good place to leave you. Happy Father's Day and happy summer solstice!
