What you choose to do with it is up to you (though perhaps with input from several others), and I hope that means you'll do something you love. If that includes getting into the kitchen to bake, here's my gift to you: a handful of alluringly salty desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth — no matter how fierce or tame it might be. There are many ways to elevate the salty flavor in desserts (apart from simply adding more salt). Let's take miso as our first example. This traditional Japanese seasoning — a fermented paste most commonly made with soybeans and a mold known as koji — packs a salty punch (in addition to a myriad of other flavors). It's a well-loved ingredient these days, not just in cooking but in baking too, and these [Pineapple Tarts with Ginger-Miso Filling]( prove why. There's a lot to love about these hand-holdable tarts, so if your preference is for sweet and salty desserts, they should definitely be on your list! If miso is not a staple ingredient for you though, you may have other salty options lurking in your refrigerator or pantry.
