Food resolutions that’ll inspire you to bake. Sunday Recipe Inspiration with Kye Batch 375 Ever

Food resolutions that’ll inspire you to bake. [logo]( Sunday Recipe Inspiration with Kye Batch 375 [Shrimp and Chive Dumplings]( Every year in January, I make a food resolution. No, it's not about eating healthier or reducing my sugar intake (though we do have resources to help meet those goals). My food resolutions are about passion, curiosity, and learning something new. I start by asking myself this: what do I want to master in the kitchen this year? Do I want to learn to toss pizza dough in the air like a pro? Or perhaps frost a cake that's so even you'd think I used a level to sharpen up the sides. These were tempting ideas, but they didn't become food resolutions. What did make the cut? Let's see — one year, I vowed to make [bagels]( that could pass as coming from the local bagel shop. Another year, it was [tortillas](, inspired by a tortilla press I received as a gift. And this past year, like so many of you, I was consumed by baking sourdough bread. I've now found the naturally leavened recipe that I can make with my eyes closed: [Do-Nothing Sourdough Bread](, baked in a cast iron loaf pan. This year, the dish I'm going to make over and over until I nail it: dumplings! I can't wait to experiment with the style of dumplings that are filled with savory ingredients and cooked with steam or seared. From [tofu and mushroom]( to [shrimp and chive]( (above), we have some promising recipes to begin with. Then, of course, I'll venture off the beaten path and try fillings like butternut squash, ricotta, and fresh herbs. That's where the fun lies within my annual challenge — each year's resolution is never truly complete, so I'm bound to keep baking, experimenting, and creating in the kitchen. What will you master?
